1 gorilla. Simply because of man’s mentality. After the first couple men get ripped apart by the gorilla, the will to fight will be gone and fear will take over. A gorilla does not have this level of fear and will fight to the death if needed. Men will not.
If they are in a cage and this is too the death. Man will not just rollover and let the gorilla kill them. Them will fight til the end.

The question should be how many would start filming themselves fighting or IG 'live' ing about the experience.

I am also voting for the 100 men because

1- The fatigue factor that has already been mentioned by others. The cardiovascular system of mammals has its limits. Ever watch a wrestling match? Those guys are exhausted after the first 3 minutes. Hockey players can only go full speed for about 45 seconds, and ditto for humans after running 400 meters in 50 seconds.

A 600 lb gorilla is going to fatigue at an alarming rate. Think super heavyweight wrestlers.

2- The brainpower of the humans should not be over stated. They may not be armed at the start, but they would think of ways to weaponize anything that is nearby: rocks, logs, fire, sticks, cans of Natural Light, you name it. Hell, the men could collaborate to fatigue the gorilla with a group rope-a-dope strategy.

100 human brains against 1 gorilla brain is a huge advantage.

3- The gorilla is still a wild animal, and wild animals are ingrained with acute survival instincts. Threatened by a single man, the gorilla might tear him limb from limb. Threatened by 100, and I think the gorilla's instinct will be to flee. He won't see the need to stand his ground against superior odds. His life doesn't depend on him staying and putting up a fight.

It doesn't matter whether we think the gorilla can win. The question is whether the gorilla thinks he can win. Against 100 odd looking, hairless knuckle floaters, he might not like his own chances.

Perhaps the only way the 100 men could win would be to strategize in such a way to force (sacrifice) the first few to the gorilla. However, that might lead to men turning on each other in order to avoid fighting the gorilla.

This makes me want to see this be an actual event.

Let's throw grizzly bears in there.

No, wait, a MAMA grizzly bear with cubs around.

Let's make reality TV frfr.
Also, imagine a decade or two from now, assuming humans haven’t been overrun by gorillas, how accurate and detailed a video AI will be able to generate of this fight, or any fight. A T. rex vs a herd of mammoths, 12 toddlers vs a christmas tree, you name it, you see it.

Unless those 100 men are protecting 100 wives and children, I just don’t see how they unite enough to overtake the gorilla.

Yeah, I expect the gorilla would seriously **** up the first dudes into the fray.

And this is what I mean. If you see the guy in front of you get their arms ripped off, how eager will you be to attack? It’ll be a couple really brave guys that get torn apart and then it’ll be a bunch of scared men pushing to get behind one another. The gorilla will have plenty of opportunity to rest without being attacked. This will be the downfall of the men. Their only chance would be to all attack at once or in large groups. But no one will want to be apart of those groups. It’s the not in my backyard mentality.

Perhaps also we can add in the idea of what time in history these men are from. Men of the Viking age would certainly fair better because of the mentality of glory of dying in battle. Or maybe with a strong religious belief that you are doing this for a higher cause. But in our current culture, no chance.
