People likely went after him on Twitter etc.

Maybe some guys don't want to be treated or viewed as video game characters that should just max out every night because fans said so.

Well, they're basically pros now. They better get used to it. I'm not on X so I have no idea what was happening, but I can imagine.

And I don't think it's OK to go after pros either.

That's a whole other level of arrested development but par for the course.

those morons on twitter need to stop. trashing on a player isn't going to help and it actually just makes it worse.

Jackson was a decent role player. He had a little bit of foul issues, but I'm not sure he ever fouled out of any games. He only played about 18 minutes a game. I wonder if this was due to conditioning or if he was a liability on defense at times. For as big as he was, I thought he would be able to finish around the basket better. From a coaching standpoint, I think they needed to make sure he was in a better position before feeding him in the post. Too many times he was backing his guy down way too far from the hoop and it bogged down the offense. I put that more on the coaching/offense than him.

Who is worth a mil on the open market.

This decision was easy.

Ummm, no offense. But he's not worth a mil. IMO. Fine player, but not worth 1/20 of a universities NIL budget.
There will be a lot of universities that will have their $20M plus whatever bloated NIL budget they had before. You are likely to see some schools who spend half that $20M amount on BB alone. Is that MIami donor who bought a BB team last year just going to give up and go home now that the university is going to have $20M to split between FB, MBB and all of the other sports? I highly doubt that.

I would if I had bought this year's basketball team for Miami. Woof.

My fear is that if Jefferson left…. he’d end up being REALLY good somewhere else and end up in the NBA. I think he’s super talented.

Agree. Not saying he is as good today, but he reminds me of Royce White. If he takes even a small leap in the off season, he will take over some games.

While I agree, that’s not going to happen. IMO players should avoid SM like the plague.

I know I would. And if you’re going to be on social media you’ve gotta have thick skin. People are insane nowadays and everyone should understand that and not take things personally

Not worth a mil to us for sure, we have to prioritize other players on the roster and in the portal. But their value is whatever the market will bear. And some school out there will pay him that much.

The difference between unpaid student athletes and professional league is stark, but these are the market valuations. They aren't gonna come back down.

It doesn't surprise me. Dishon has the size and weight to be a force, but he had hands of stone and got into foul trouble way too quickly. I think the Big 12 is a little too fast for him and it caused him to commit a bunch of fouls.

What are you implying with this kind of statement?

Why somewhere else?

What is this based on?

I didn't take the post as pointed toward the fan base. Sadly, in the modern social media era, negative comments are pretty common when a team loses or disappoints. But I haven't heard of any overtly negative comments directed toward Jackson.

I took his use of the word hate, to mean disrespected. Could be he felt the staff didn't view him as a key to next years team and undervalued him from an NIL perspective. That would be consistent with TJ's comments a couple weeks ago to Fran Fraschilla about Dishon's effort needing to improve. That's about the worst comment TJ could make about a player.

IMO, he was a bad fit for what our coaching staff tries to do on defense. One Dishon Jackson on our roster would work on the defensive end. But we had 3 players of the same ilk in Jefferson, Jackson and Chatfield. That falls on the coaching staff last spring. But seems like they want to go another direction for the 25/26 season.

I don't like the player turnover, but it's a reality of the pay player's era. And it cuts both ways- players are free agents which allows them to maximize their visibility and pay. But it also means coaches have to churn their roster to consistently be a Top 10 team.

It’s possibly more the one year free agency of every player than the money.

In a few months if the Celtics win it all again they won’t have to scramble to resign every single player on the roster.

This is nothing like college basketball used to be, but it’s also nothing like pro sports.
