Flying back to Korea on Sunday but been to every other home meet this season....tix are super affordable (even for premium), so I would love to see this happen.
Dresser is building something really good here & putting lots of butts in the seats would be a tremendous 'thank you' to him for what he's been able to accomplish already in less than two years!

Gotta remember that Des Moines is much bigger than it was 15 years ago and a whole lot of those people are ISU alums. Plus the student population is like double what it was back then. There's a larger number of potential fans than there was in 2002 when Cael was finishing up his run. At the Texas Tech football game that fall, when we were a top ten team making a run with a Heismann candidate, we only had 51k people in the stands.
There's a romanticized aspect about the attendance during Cael's competitive years, about how Hilton was full and rocking to watch the greatest-ever do his thing -- and that wasn't the case.
1999-2002
Hilton duals: 25
Average attendance: 2,475
Duals over 3,000: 3 (Iowa twice, and senior day)
Duals under 1,500: 14
The effect is similar for his coaching years. After all, ISU was winning Big 12 titles and competing for NCAA hardware -- so obviously a bunch of people showed up, right? Wrong.
2007-09

It's the same as how there's a bunch of people who think we have been competitive with Iowa since Gable showed up when if you go back and look that entire belief is based off of a couple of meets that happened in the 1980s.

We walked through the gear at Hilton last Sunday as I was wanting a new wrestling shirt. Well...I about shat my pants when one was 80 bucks. I too, am trying to find another source for some new wrestling clothes.
Cy's Locker Room has a rack right when you walk in but they were basically sold out of everything in my size!
