Whatever you need to tell yourself to feel better. This isn't a knock on ISU, Campbell, or anything else. It's just the reality of college sports in 2025. Its probably 50/50 at best he's going to be at ISU in 2 years. Because of Rocco and Purdy? God forbid they have some competition. How the **** does anyone get excited about commits anymore? Especially at skill positions
You realize the Iowa State starting QB has been a recruit who has stayed at Iowa State their entire career for 6 of the last 7 years. Can't really ask for any more consistency than that.

Agreed.

And if a member of a different fan board was posting the same type of thing as you on their own board, objectively the people dumbing your post would agree too.

Not sure why it’s so hard for people to see things objectively.

“We’Re OwNiNg NeBrasKa” uhhh nope, they didn’t offer any of these kids.

Having a contrarian view backed by logic that doesn’t align with your fandom is ok, people. I promise.
Context is important.

It's true Nebraska hasn't offered any of these kids, BUT long term it's gonna hurt Nebraska in some way.

Nebraska has a young roster, and is experiencing a roster crunch from the transition to Rhule. He would have offered several of them by now otherwise, but he's still trying to get his feet underneath him to meet the win yesterday expectations of the "11 wins and compete for the natty or bust" crowd.

Emphasis on the BUST portion of that. Even Husker fans admit having 3 star local kids developing while threatening the 2 deep is preferable to 80 mercenaries. The instate kids are much more likely to stick around when things get hairy or you give those highly paid national targets the grace w/ playing time they require, along with the monster NIL deals. There's gonna be constant renegotiations and recruiting over players on their roster, whether they are 4 deep with "better" out of state players or not!

Much better to have these guys in Ames, with legimate paths to starting and being treated like prioritized potential starters and future pros. This will have some downstream negative effects on the bigger picture health for Nebraska. The chances that Rhule actually meets their fan/booster delusional expectations is objectively very small IMO. Hence why Rhule mentions competing with Ohio State. That's the definition of a tall order.

If they wanna go all-in on a blueblood arms race after being increasingly irrelevant and marganized for decades, I think it's almost certainly gonna blow up in Nebby's face dramatically. Would be smarter to hedge your bets a bit and try to build a sustainable foundation by using that Husker homer mindset to your advantage and stash the majority of your top 10 recruits every year just in case.

I like how he includes Nebby in the conversation of "it's the Big 10 and SEC". That's his pitch? I've never had confidence in a fast talking, rambling, sloppy, twitchy midget. But that's just me.

Way up there
Yes, but most parents don't agree. Growing up in the area and friends who grew up with season tickets but ended up at ISU. It's a different world
I grew up there too, back then, you couldn't avoid Husker football anywhere. It was all they talked about, they ate, drank and slept it. It just isn't as fanatical now. They will always support the program but it'll never be like it was. It's more of a tradition, like homecoming or something now. They aren't living and dying with every game.

Oh wow, that is really rich. "We're gonna carry ourselves like a top 20 team.". That's funny because Iowa State was the top 20 team all last year and Nebraska wasn't.

The guy made his career coaching in the Big 12, but now he disses the league.
To be completely fair…I mean, if Rhule wants to base his program on what Ohio State is doing.

If Ohio State is known at tOSU, then Nebraska can certainly go by kNU.

Takes care of that inconvenient little problem.

“Logic” based on incomplete information is not “logic”, it’s jumping to conclusions.

Not sure why it’s so hard for you to grasp that.

You literally have a video from the head coach explaining why they had not offered YET. Rhule expects these kids to camp at Nebraska before getting an offer while he recruits "nationally".

Rhule has pulled off the rare double of losing the state's top talent to ISU and insulting all remaining Nebraska HS football players at the same time.

He straight up tells you his recruiting strategy in the video, but you fall for his BS and maybe believe they are not good players because NU will be successfully recruiting over all of them?

I think it will blow up in their face too. Once several of the small and midsize Nebraska towns have an Iowa State flag flown by a parent or grandparent and then a few more here and there it will not help Nebby. One reason Nebby fans are loyal is because most of their kids went there. Hayden Fry was able to do well at Iowa and had large crowds because he outrecruited Iowa State University in Iowa. I think Nebby might lose a little of the loyalty by doing what they are doing.

I've heard Nebraska is well over the 105 roster limit, so that is likely a reason why they haven't been doing a lot of instate offers. Whatever the reason, we're getting some good players so a big win for us.

The UN beat writers listening this Rhule presser must be thinking— top 20 program? is he talking about the 15th ranked Iowa State Cyclones? —-What it takes to beat Ohio State? Does he have the right ‘State’. He’d lose to Iowa State. —Desperate programs? That’s us in Lincoln.

Rhule just threw Nebraska high school football under the bus. Basically said Nebby high school not ready for Big 10.
If I was Campbell I would post and repost his comments throughout the state.

Nebraska not offering is indeed complete, irrefutable information. If you want to prognosticate their offering in an alternate world based on feelings or clues, fine. But that is jumping to conclusions.

To be clear, I’m excited to get a commitment from this kid.

Rocco has two seasons left. So the competition will likely be two years from…now.

I’d guess it’ll be a fairly even competition between Connor, Alex and Jett—plus maybe a ‘27 early enrollee?
Unless this coming season ends in a Big 12 Conference championship & football playoff appearance, so Rocco thinks it's time for the next level. Yes, a man can dream

Odd thing for Rhule to say. A lot of coping.

Nebraska’s heyday was built on the same type of in-state recruits as now. So was Iowa’s, and pretty much any successful upper Midwest program. Developing kids into good college players

NIL does offset this to a degree, but NU isn’t going to be top half of the BIG without getting back to their roots

He conveniently ignores that one of Iowa states commits from his state had offers from the Big 10, the SEC and the Big 12.

Matt Rhule starts mentioning the Nebraska stars who came from out of state. Wonder if he researched where Nebraskas best players, Johnny Rogers and Dave Rimington came from. Also wondered if he realized that the third best player, Mike Rozier was never recruited by any other team besides Nebraska. Matt should learn Nebraska history before he disses the entire state.

Rhule is an idiot. He's perfect for Nebraska.

If you look at his last few coaching stops and lack of success..... I get that "Aaron Rodgers" vibe of coaching.

This 100%. Rhule is so arrogant he thinks he can out recruit Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State nationally. Then, if he whiffs, he wants those good ol' Nebraska boys ready to slurp the long past glory days. They are sending a loud message that his approach is disrespectful and sucks ass.

And yet he doesn't understand their own history of offering 3* Nebraska kids that developed into studs after 2-3 years on roids.
Yeah, and if you're going after Ohio State/Michigan/Penn State, then Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Auburn USC Tennesee etc. are in the Neighborhood, good luck Coach Ruhle bringing them to Nebby!
