Absolutely. If Purdy doesn't get a new contract this year and is forced to play this season for a measly $5 million with dogsh*t talent around him, his value will plummet and he'll never get what he deserves.

By making Purdy the lowest paid QB in the league the last 3 years, the 49ers have already gotten $125+ million in "free" QB talent. Plus Purdy literally saved Shanahan's and Lynch's jobs after the Trey Young fiasco.

If I were Purdy, I'd tell the 49ers they need to pay me at least $50 million/yr for 4 or more years with $150 guaranteed. Otherwise, I'm holding out.
That the way I like it. I'm just sayin'

I'm not going to listen to this, but I've been following this for a while and I feel like I heard about this offer a long time ago. I don't think there is any way he makes less than $45 million a year with a 3-4 year contract, and I think it will be over $50.

So if he played out his contract this year, are there options for insurance policies similar to college players? If he was set to potentially make that $40-$50m per year after this season is there a way to take the injury risk off the table? Cause that’s the big concern. We’ve seen QBs have down years and still get paid stupid amounts of money. But if he tears his knee up, that’s a different story.

Schefty gave a possible (probably not likely but possible) option of:
$5 mil 2025
$41 mil 2026 franchise
$51 mil 2027 franchise
So his numbers are way off. $41 was the number for this off season ($7.5 more than last). Next year (year 1 of tag) will be around $48 and the following will be higher as well.

The tag for quarterbacks for 2026 is projected to be $46.186 million, 2027 the projection is $56.014. Purdy's base salary for this season is $5.3 million, so it will cost them a projected is $107.5 million if he plays for them for next 3 years under those terms.

I realize that Brock and the 49ers mutually want him to stay in SF but did his agent not at least test the waters to see what other teams might offer? Didn't hear a peep about any QB needy team trying to sign Purdy and even if the goal all along was to resign with the 49ers if the money was that far off why not put some pressure on the 49ers by bringing some other offers to the table?
SF YouTube did a breakdown. Not many teams are in need of qb, have already over committed to another qb, or have top 10 draft pick this year. NYG was the only one cited.

I love Brock but if NYG GM traded for Brock they’d run the GM out of town.

$30 mill per, is an insult. Brock should be paid at least $40M per.

And and extra $10M per to We Will annually.
Something like that wouldn't be all bad, h ave it wrote into the contract. No income to pay taxes on, the business writes it off, the charity gets the dollars.

Is the SF line going to be any good or is he going to be running for his life this season? Hard to make numbers when your getting sacked or hurried up all the time.

I mean you either think he's capable of winning Super Bowls or you don't. If Geno can get a $40M/yr extension tell me why Brock isn't worth at least $45-50M. If the 49ers think he isn't worth that then they should trade him, his value won't get much higher than it is right now.

This 100%! If they don’t believe in him then they can get a good amount in return for him and also a very high first rd pick after this year because they will be really bad.

That's why getting only $5 mil this year could be disastrous. They're probably going to be mediocre at best and his numbers will fall off. Then he will have less to stand on considering everyone thinks he's just a system guy. It's not a great situation for Brock.

Franchise tag price can not be spread over multiple years. No flexibility

A team can tag the same player two years in a row, but doing so the 2nd tag will cost the team 120% of the tag the first year for salary. A team can tag a player 3 years in a row or 3 times total, but each time the percent of the tag increases.

I think he means the cap hit. Longer deals can spread the cap implications.

True, but I read the 49ers are going to have plenty of cap space going after this season, so tagging Purdy will not be a problem for them. It's always better to have them under contract than tagging them for flexibility, because you can move money around easier. If you tag, then they have to pay him that amount and not slide some of the money into the future.

And the entire salary applies to the cap in the year paid.

Having re-treads like Baker and a lesser extent Sam Darnold hitting haven't helped Purdy for these negotiations.
