Hard to imagine AJ being left out. The plus side of this means better depth at guard with Jada, Kenzie, Kelsey, Syd and AJ all being experienced producers. Those not starting may be seen as just as valuable to come in with no drop off. Also have to remember Wilson and Tanke as well as Beaty being in the mix. Some folks are going to be gnashing their teeth if Beaty is the real deal (#1 player out of TN), Jada takes a starting spot and it forces a favorite to the bench…or deeper on the bench.
I guess I look at AJ as more of a shooting guard and I think Kenzie fills that role...at least she was when she was healthy earlier....I think we'd go maybe a little bit bigger with almost like a taller shooting guard/power forward type player and that's why I think Kelsey

Going to be interesting for sure!

I am hopeful we can land some ‘26 stud recruits but I’m not optimistic about it with Bill pretty much already having an unofficial retirement date set
Coach turns 68 this spring. HS recruiting for any ranked players is going to be pretty hard. We can hope that some, say Beatty in the upcoming class, are sleepers like Utah's Kneepkens was out of Duluth.

This is a case where the portal can really help us. Prior to relaxed transfer regulations, players might be more afraid of getting stuck somewhere after a coach retires or leaves, but now they know they can transfer very easily if they aren't happy with the new situation. So it might not be that big of a deterrent in recruiting.

Of course, the flip side is when a coach actually does retire or leave, it's very easy for a large chunk of the roster to leave as well.

No offense but I hate when people use this observation. The end of the bench player could shoot lights out during warm ups but shooting warm ups vs real game action is completely different. No pressure and no defender during a warm up shot or having to work to get open for your shot. People were saying this about JT Rock in the men's thread too about how he looks good in warm ups. Just because you can hit open shots before the game does not mean it will translate into success in actual game play when it matters.
Please read what I posted. I said she would be wide open in the game (just like in warm ups). I am well aware there is a difference between warm ups and game as I would bet I have seen many more games then you have.

But you need those classes on the roster to have a good shot at retaining them or you have a complete roster build from scratch. Right now the 2026-2027 senior class projects to be 8 players and we are all in on a top heavy roster of upper classmen. Those are automatically lost to graduation in two years. The three classes and a committed class behind them will need to have some good players to retain if Fennelly retires at 70 and 2025 and 2026 are not earning any kudos as good classes.

When Whalen resigned at Minnesota they were at least able to retain most of their players and they have incrementally improved the last two seasons. Iowa's probably not going to return to Clark levels of glory but they had two good HS classes they were able to retain commitments from after Bluder's departure.

Basically we should be feeling the love the next two seasons, barring any critical injuries, but after that it looks a bit dicey on the hoops love front.

I get what you are saying at wasn't trying to attack you on this. I just don't like the comparisons some people here make that "well they look good when they shoot it in warm ups" with why someone isn't playing more or isn't successful shooting it in game situations. There is no direct correlation to hitting your shots in warm ups to being able to shoot them in the game. I've seen some of our best players over the years look like they were struggling making shots during warm ups thinking "its going to be a rough night for them" then once the game starts they come out with a hot hand shooting it.

This is bringing up an old memory but I remember people getting excited about certain players that would play in the Capital City league years ago thinking that would translate over into regular season play. If that was the case we would of had some big time stars during the McDermott years as we had some lively summer league threads here back in the days.

I have to remind myself that what we get next year in reality can be very different from the hype. At least we KNOW Williams the newer (we now have two…have to differentiate which is being referred to) is a proven D1 entity in the Big 12. We KNOW Hare knows the system and is a proven D1 player. Now the magicians (coaches) have to mix their brew and come up with a winning team. What’s in the back of my head already is how they settle in on a starting lineup, keep the bench players happy (this mainly refers to the sophs and whichever upper classmen don’t start) and just win baby.

Keep your expectations low. 60% of the time it works 100% of the time.

Interesting. Especially she had a chance to get a degree from USC and then going to let's say TCU or Iowa....

Who knows what she has in mind. Their freshmen starred in that one NCAA game with JuJu out. The have (had?) a really good roster of upcoming young players and recruits.
