Wishing Prohm the best. He was a great guy just not a good coach. I was fortunate enough to take my friends son once to a practice Georges last year and Coach was amazing. Hoping he finds something that makes him happy since he’s already set for life!

I like how you ignore the part of Fred having 6 NBA players and flaming out in the first round as a 3 seed in his last year here.

As far as the McDermott thing, Steve did make it to the tourney once with majority of his own players. McDermott never sniffed the tournament, and is the only coach since before Orr to not make the dance one time, even though he had a bunch (relative to Iowa State’s history) of NBA talent on his teams.

Also, Fred has not been good at Nebraska, and was not good with the Bulls. I’m grateful for what he did when he was here, he did things with recruiting transfers that literally changed the way the way rosters are built. But when everyone is on the same playing field, he is mediocre at best.

Hoiberg has to win tomorrow to make the Big 10 tournament. Not sure he’s doing “well” there. He’s 80-105 overall and 37-79 in Big 10 play. He’s Tim Miles in a slightly different package.

I agree on some of the Hoiberg thoughts. He’s an all time great Cyclone but it just felt like he and his family got to big time for their home town. Glad we got him when we did because it turns out he’s not a great coach.

You're trying to tell me Drake is a great basketball program? The MVC is nothing anymore
Well, great is a very subjective term and I don't remember using it anyway, but they've been the class of the MVC for the last 5-6 years now.

To your other clueless point, the MVC is currently 11th and the OVC is ranked as the 26 best conference out of 31 so I'd say your statement about them being even is pretty dumb.

Belmont and Murray St were the class of the OVC and now they are both struggling in the MVC so that should add further evidence against your claims.

He's not a good head coach. Convince me otherwise

All of which marginalize the notion it’s the step up the the MVC or a bare cupboard that led to this.
If only they had metrics to prove this. You can spin it anyway you want but at the end of the day it's a big step up in competition from the OVC.

If anything your point just proves even further that they can compete with Texas A&M and Mississippi State but then are a middling MVC program.

A metric to prove what, that he isn’t a good coach? I recommend starting with losses.

Nothing in my post alluded to the MVC not being better than the OVC

It pointed out that it’s a fallacy to significantly attribute his failure at Murray on going to the more difficult MVC

He has struggled in the non-conference, let alone the MVC, even going 3-9 in Year 2. He yet he has beaten A&M and this year the best of MVC, so his teams can play with better teams

That points to the issue of him being a bad head coach more than it does the fact they’re playing more difficult teams, but I acknowledge your insecurities on the MVC

It’s like when people here used the difficulty of the Big 12 or that he inherited issues from Hoiberg to justify his failures, meanwhile he’s losing home games to Milwaukee and Alabama A&M

High school? Unless he takes over a team with a great roster he clearly isn't a good coach. I never could figure out what he was trying to do as a coach. His teams were so inconsistent. Absolutely zero identity. He's a career assistant. If you can't win at Murray in that league it's time to move on. They are THE PROGRAM in that league.
He killed our own runs with his timeouts

I don't get the need to call him out. Baffles me.

Because for too many it's personal. Many on this site, especially his close friends had TJ penciled in as the head coach when Fred left in 2015. There were some that campaigned for TJ after GMAC left in 2010. And when Prohm was given TJ's chair........they were not happy. And still can't let it go.
