The thing is he only made one NCAA tourney in 4 years at Murray his first stint there. I know Fred left us in a tough spot with his timing, but that's one of the reasons I wasn't happy about him in the first place. He was coming in hot with some good overall seasons at Murray St.
Tell the to Keno Davis….The thing is he only made one NCAA tourney in 4 years at Murray his first stint there. I know Fred left us in a tough spot with his timing, but that's one of the reasons I wasn't happy about him in the first place.
Most mid-major guys get promoted based on a fee years of success, not making the tourney at only a 25% rate.
We didn't like Leath's experience in flying planes either...that didn't stop him from wrecking one though. If I remember Leath didn't like TJs lack of experience at the time.
That would utter insanity on so many levels…I'll bet Steve is taking the Hoks offer...
He’s too far above thatI'll bet Steve is taking the Hoks offer...
The Valley hasn't been relevant since Creighton and Wichita State left. Drake is the perennial power in that conference now. I'm not sure it's a step up from the OVC.They WERE the program in the OVC.
Big time step up to the MVC and he walked into an absolutely bare cupboard in the same year they made the jump. I don't think any coach would've been successful but he took the lumps for them and got them to a point where they can build.
I would imagine his future is TV/media of some sort. Can't imagine he wants to be an assistant m
I wonder if Jamie kicks himself for not hiring TJ at that time instead of Prohm. I feel like TJ was always Pollards guy, but something with Leath?
You're trying to tell me Drake is a great basketball program? The MVC is nothing anymoreYour basketball takes are about as bad as your Mahomes and Chiefs takes.
They haven't been in the OVC for 4 years now. Drake dominates their conference in the present day.
I still can't believe he went 2-25 his last year in Ames. How do you not accidentally win more non-conference games than that?5 or so years ago I had a conference call with coworkers in Ames meeting with a lady from Murray, Kentucky. To start the meeting, she said “the only knock I have on Ames is they stole our coach, everybody here loves Steve Prohm.” Told her she could have him back and she was shocked he was struggling at Iowa State.
If he did not have an NBA point guard, he could not win games. Just not a very good coach.
Hell of a guy though. I’ve heard nothing but great things about his character and he would fare well in media
So your take is that he's a good coach in a meat grinder of a league now?Your basketball takes are about as bad as your Mahomes and Chiefs takes.
They haven't been in the OVC for 4 years now. Drake dominates their conference in the present day.
OMG.The Valley hasn't been relevant since Creighton and Wichita State left. Drake is the perennial power in that conference now. I'm not sure it's a step up from the OVC.
That’s a generous take. They WERE the program in the OVC.
Big time step up to the MVC and he walked into an absolutely bare cupboard in the same year they made the jump. I don't think any coach would've been successful but he took the lumps for them and got them to a point where they can build.
JFC he can't win in the MVC. It's not the Big 12 ffs. I do think Drake has one of the best young coaches in the country btw. It doesn't surprise me he's having success I just didn't think it would come that fast. He will be leading a big time program real soonOMG.
There's no difference between the 10th rated league and the 28th?
The Valley has 13 tournament wins since Wichita left. The OVC? One and that took Ja Morant.
