Difference today was obviously Cryer. The 2 guys we have that are volume scorers that can go off Jones and Gilbert were out. Their's couldn't miss. In fact, usually have little chance if the other team makes 60% from 3. Jefferson with a terrible shooting day but getting 7 steals is probably a wash. Milan's 1st half doomed us even though he got a little right in the 2nd.
On the plus side, I hope this game is like the tcu game without Lipsey last year. Gave a ton of confidence to Gilbert and even more Curtis. I think this could be the case for Heise. Played great today in a game where they needed more from him.

Definitely could be good for Heise, I think.

Milan's ball handling has gotten a bit better, too. I still think our passing and anticipation needs some more work. Some of that comes as the season goes on, but I still don't like how sloppy it looks at this point in the season.

I take back what I said about the bigs earlier, tooI wasn't watching for a small stretch at a time due to frustration with the stupid ESPN+ broadcast and looks like JJ just seemed to look great whenever I wasn't watching lol. Jackson needs to just go harder to the rim, though. He's so big but he kinda plays soft when going for a shot. He generally plays middling minutes so it just feels like we could get some more effort there from him. Then again maybe he's just not that athletic.

Of course officiating can be subjective. Take that out of it, and take what the rulebook states out of it. Does anyone in here honestly believe that gets called more than 2/10 times in any game in any conference in any arena in any situation? Maybe I'll give you 3. If it was technically a foul, fine. But fans can absolutely complain about the fact that not only was it called—likely for the first time this season at the end of a massive game—but the original call was reversed. It's the Lipsey ghost flop all over again. How many of those have you seen this entire season? Going to the mats over rulebook interpretation is just side stepping the practical point that we probably won't see an identical controversy for like a calendar year, and *that* tells me all I need to know. If the rule was so clear the issue would come up monthly if not weekly

You want to talk about whining? Pot meet kettle. Holy cow.

The calls you usually get upset about are called pretty consistently both was. There were one or two games where I specifically thought it got out of control, but the officials arent robots. They will miss one or 2 generally. But overall they make

The refs did not lose this game. a 9 minute scoring drought in the first half did this. Missing 2 starters did this. They lost to a team that was better TODAY because of unforeseen circumstances. Blaming officials is so weak.
The bolded is the only thing you've said that I agree with.

And even in moments where there's no pain, you're thinking about the injury and that can throw everything else off.
The first half of the Big 12 season he was giving you 15 points and 2.6 turnovers, was the Cyclones leading scorer 4 times. Last 8 games he's played it's 10 points and 4.4 turnovers per game, and our leading scorer in a game just once.

He's been playing hurt, when he's healthy, he's A LOT better. We want Keshon to get healthy.

Honestly a very impressive showing given the situation. If we fall out of the top10 and lose our streak of being in it, I’ll be pissed!
#7 lost at home today. #11 lost at home today. #12 lost at home yesterday. #9 lost on the road to an unranked team on Tuesday. #7 lost by 16 on the road Tuesday.

Iowa State better not drop out of the top 10 after today's performance.

I know what a bad call is, but I also know how to read, so I know that was not a bad call. If you would like to read the rules to become more acquainted with what you can or can't do in basketball, there is a free rulebook you can download from the NCAA website.

You are just parroting Jay Bilas, and he was wrong. A player can crowd them like Heise did, but if there is contact, its a foul on them.

I don't think he was in the cylinder. Cryer got a full elbow swing right to his jaw. Looked like Cryer moved into Heise's space more than Heise was in his space. Plus the original call was an offensive foul. Them reversing that was crap.

I didn’t like it either. Unfortunately the officials thought otherwise. They must have noticed something because I didn’t see any players calling for a review.

I don’t really understand why it’s reviewable. While other, more obvious things, are not

I had a dream last night that the good guys win by 30, 75-45.

For some reason Chris Williams suited up for the Cyclones and was just draining 3’s from everywhere. I could hear Walters play by play… “Lipsey extra pass to Williams… and he’s got it stuck on automatic”!

So yeah, I’m sure that will happen.
