He hasn’t gone full Prohm yet, but here’s to hoping he only wins 2 games next season to do it!
No no, there has to be a little context here. Prohm basically didn't have a non-con in 2020. If he had he probably could have mustered 6 or 7 wins against tomato cans. If Tang goes winless in conference it counts as going full Prohm IMO.

This is a good point. I hope he doesn’t have that nuance and instead just goes 2-30 next year.

Tang has a $10M buy out. His team will not make the NIT. They are not strong enough to carry the albatross that is their coach.

Ironically, he runs the same 5-out offense that Prohm does. When it's run poorly it amounts to not running any offense, as we have seen in the past.

He also doesn't have a PG for the 2nd year in a row. This is like trying to run the air raid with hokeye quarterbacks.

Happily, the buyout’s way higher than $10M per this poster:

They probably should start pooling that NIL money for something else. Per KC Star this summer:

Should K-State choose to make a coaching change before April 30, 2026, it would owe Tang $18.7 million. That number begins to drop annually from there. The Wildcats would owe him $15.75 million the following year, then $12.75 million, then $9.7 million, then $6.5 million and finally $4.4 million or the remaining unpaid base salary on his contract in the final year of his deal.

It seems like they are stuck with him for at least this year plus 2, maybe 3 or 4. You just hate to see it.

LOL. I was actually talking about TJ. They are delusional, of course.
Wait, what? There are Minnesota fans who think TJ, TJ with a national contending squad here currently, TJ who came up coaching at Iowa State and married to a wife who played at Iowa State, is going to leave Iowa State to coach at Minnesota?

In my experience, MN fans are kind of like Texas fans, they think the world revolves around them and they're the best at everything. Talking to my boss right now about it and he just keeps saying "$ talks".

Unbelievably, yes.

They realize a long shot, but it’s on their list of “why not take a chance trying to lure one of these top coaches away?”.

To understand the Gophers fan base you have to realize they think Minnesota should be a destination. Big 10, huge university, big city, great HS talent locally, etc. they can’t understand why it’s not more of a destination for coaches and players than other midwestern locations like Madison, Iowa City, Ames, etc.

Which, in fairness, is a good question. But their program is a dumpster fire and it probably plays third fiddle after football and hockey (whereas a lot of basketball programs it’s second behind only football).

I heard both Prohm and Lickliter have turned down interviews there.
