Yes. It’s quite advantageous to have an All-American stud guard coming off the bench!
He’s becoming one of my all-time favs.
What also holds him back in the national narrative is he wasn't a big 5* recruit with offers from all the blue bloods.
Obviously that shouldn't matter at all at this point in CuJo's career. The guy's truly elite, and his play thus far is 1st team AA level.
But in the world of college hoops, recruiting ranking, name on jersey, etc. matter when we're talking AA's and POY's. B.S. but true unfortunately.
Seems like if it were beneficial for Jones to start, TJ would have him start. He’s pretty good at this stuff.
I’d rather DiShon get 6-12 in the opening minutes and see if we can get Milan hot to start the game.
Curtis has proven he can get his. It’s same reason I’m ok with Gilbert and Lipsey not hunting their shot in the first 10 mins.
It’s advantageous for ISU to get contribution from other players early.
I recall TJ saying they saw him like Curry with a green light stuck to ON. ZRB and the rest of the Whar Osun!?! Crew didn’t get why to start last year.

The thing about Jones coming off the bench is he basically doesn't come off the floor once he gets in the game. He’s our leading scorer, 3rd leading rebounder, 3rd in assists, best free throw shooter and has only 11 TOs on the season. He is a really good defender, also. I think people assume because he’s a scorer he’s not as good of a defender but that’s not the case at all.
It staggers the scoring IMO. Keshon and JJ can be heavy handed with the ball in the opening minutes, and then CuJo comes in and does his thing. Rinse, repeat.
I don’t think coming off the bench helps but I’m not sure whether or not he starts really matters. He plays more minutes than Milan and his production is his production.
Anyone that knows anything at all about basketball is not like “he’s not good enough to start so therefore I’m going to discount his accomplishments”.
I’ll bet 9 out of 10 basketball fans outside our fan base and knowledgeable Big 12 fans doesn’t know whether he starts or not

Our starting lineup is really damn good. Then we bring CuJo off the bench and the team gets even better. Can’t think of any other team in the country that actually gets better when they substitute.
Why change what’s working?
1) maybe he can see things the other team is doing, from the bench that he can exploit when he gets in the game. 2) don’t know if it’s a matter of “have to”. I bet if he told TJ he wanted to start, he would.
If it’s not broke don’t fix it. This team is amazing, and I wouldn’t change a thing.
Curtis has developed an elite level floater game to go with his elite level perimeter game. He can score anywhere on the court.

Imagine being a team like Texas Tech and feeling OK that you’re holding your own or even have a lead. Then you see CuJo checking in.

In addition to the floater, not really something he has developed but he has really great chemistry with Chatfield. Jones uses screens from Chatfield so well and he just seems to dribble around that 15 foot territory until his defender gets hung up and he catches a seem for an open layup. If Chatfields defender comes off for the block CuJo knows to just get it high off the glass for a rim crashing Chatfield for a wide open tip dunk. No flaws in his game right now. Playing at such an incredibly high level.
Best floater since another Curtis. Remember Curtis Stinson and his deadly tear drop?
I’d rather have a guy like Curt being the first guy off the bench. He’s cold blooded and can fill it up at any point. With his Milan you know if he’s on or not within the first 5-10 minutes of a game.
It might be a comfort thing too, if Milan plays worse coming off the bench and Curt is effective and comfortable either way, why lower your teams ceiling?
