I think this is probably more concerning than any match result tonight. I have been worried about the amount of weight we're cutting as a team.
Agreed. I don't like it one bit. Cutting too much weight is when injuries pile up also. The comments on our guys being small are off base (save Grice). Stanford just has a bunch of tall guys. I thought we learned our lesson last year with guys moving up and having success. Also concerned about 174. Riggins had a losing record last year if I'm not mistaken and if Tate can't beat him that's concerning. My hope is MJ stays at 174 and we roll with Euton at 165.

That wasn't our best show, but we obviously still have a really good team. My main concern is no backup plan for 33 and the performance of 174. Was disappointed in little naak. Shouldn't jump to conclusions on the first match though. Encouraging things were 84, 97 and hwt although don't think Stanford was too great at 84 or heavy.

49 - no doubt the better wrestler. Guy was a precious AA and a good scrambler. Got funked for 1 td, but I was never worried. Good start to the year.

74 - Hard to judge this match. Riggins had some great attacks early, but I think Norman is just fine with guys on his legs. Stylistically a tough matchup and Norman is very solid. I’ll wait to see more matches from Riggins.

84 - gave up and early funk TD, but really turned it on. I think he’s going to be really good this year.

97 - early in the match his speed, strength, and explosiveness showed. It’s going to be a concern if his conditioning will hold up with the weight cut. Have to think it will improve as he gets more time down to weight. But a good win for his first match.

The other 6 weights were backups so I’ll stop there.

No idea if he’s going to be any good but some had Stanfords 84 ranked.

Stanford was really good at catching a leg out of position and locking up a cradle. I think that happened at times in all of the 133, 141, 157 and 174 matches.

Bockman was the only one who seemed to know how to stop that roll by dropping down .

I think Bockman has a better chance to AA than Feldkamp did

A team with a lot of weight cutting and inexperience is bound to take its lumps early on, especially with some of the more proven commodities out of the lineup.

A lot of bonus points given up by being over aggressive/desperate down late in matches. I actually don’t hate that. It lost us the dual probably, but our guys aren’t going to have a mindset of being content losing by smaller margins

I was very torn on the Redding situation. He knew that if he gave up that TD it was probably the match, so he went for an ill advised funk roll that resulted in the pin. Probably not the smartest move, but he was not conceding anything and trying to win the match. Hard to be too upset about that.

Frost having weight trouble is a bit concerning for our lineup, we need him at 133 for our best team performances. Still early I know, but hopefully he will be okay sooner rather than later.

Kind of where I was at on that as well. Similar to a lesser extent with Riggins he could have just shut it down and taken a decision loss but kept wrestling and gave up the major.

No, it’s pretty easy to be upset by that display
What makes you say that? I saw a close match where if redding doesn't go for something like that he gives up the td and the match. I don't like he gave up the fall, but imo that was his best chance to win the match.

I like Zach and think he’s a really nice kid but I didn’t think Reddings body language was very during during his match.

If something happens to Frost, Osmany or Kysen will go up or maybe Meza if he got beat out at 125. Everyone is going for the 125 spot & cutting weight right now.

I’m just disappointed we wasted a Friday night home dual on a poor showing. This will continue to be the problem with college wrestling until coaches take duals seriously all the time. You pack the home venue but don’t put the team out there. That doesn’t happen in other sports especially when you have a large fanbase

You think KD didn’t take the dual seriously last night?

It doesn’t happen in any other sport mostly because there is no other sport like wrestling.

You put a guy out there after a bad cut or with a minor injury and he loses, that absolutely has late season implications.
