A nice opening night for Derrin Hansen. Stuffed the stat sheet with a nice round 20 No Doubt About Its.
He is what he is. I'm not going to worry about him any more this season. I see he hasn't changed. Quirky habit, but I kind of like him otherwise.

So all the new guys look incredible, but goddamnnnn, if Joshua Jefferson is this smooth, look the eff out.

I love that dudes game.

And Dishon, dude can handle the ball and score n the paint. We haven’t had that type of size and skill combo since Craig Brackins.

Chatfield is a bruiser and will be able to control the boards. Offensively not there yet, but we have so many other dudes that can score the ball that is not a big deal.

This team is blowing my mind. I’ve never seen this much talent, depth, and quantity of both on an ISU team before. Holy hell.
Jefferson is a guy that stood out on a great St Mary's team when I watched them. As soon as I saw we were after him, I was thrilled.

We have our 1 game winning streak!

Can the FB team do the same against Kansas? Let's Go! Beat the Beakers!

I think we'll need Nojus more than Heise. Just position wise we have Lipsey, Gilbert, and Jones as legit guards. Heise is mixing in with the forwards and with Milan and Jefferson those minutes might be tough. Foul situations and matchups, but I see Nojus getting minutes all season. Somebody goes down we're gonna need him. I was impressed with his game. He'd be starting on a lot of teams right now.
Respectfully, Heise will play ahead of Nojus and likely will play a lot of minutes this year. Like, a lot. Really, really good, well-rounded player.

Interesting. What's that based on? I thought nojis was in the right spot more tonight and read the game faster. But... sample size is one here.

How are we getting all these guys playing time?
Lipsey
Gilbert
Jones
Milan
Jefferson
Jackson
Chatfield
Heise
Nojus
I don't see Watson, Fish, or Rock getting much playing time at all. Not sure which combo I like the best yet.
I'm not worried about foul trouble too much this year. Sure, a couple of players we don't want to foul out, but we have depth to spare. It seams.

Right or wrong my first thoughts after watching.

Momcilovic coming off the bench is certainly a choice. Arguably our third best behind Gilbert and Lipsey.

I thought Rock would get more minutes than he did.

Jefferson and Jackson look like they’re a really solid duo down low.

Our bench looks pretty deep and it’ll be interesting to see minutes shake out as the season progresses.

Surprised Watson stuck around. Looks like he won’t see much playing time as the season progresses.

Not one of our guys got over 27 min (Gilbert) tonight. It is going to be interesting. TJ is going to have to be a masterful coach, on the court and in the locker room. Players want to play. A lot of them on this team.

Size, rebounding, effort, experience, defense. Expected increase in experience and chemistry at this level as the sesson progresses like CJ last year.

MM vs CJ is interesting, looks like we are rewarding Jefferson for the camp rebounding belts. Not great rebounding with KG, CJ and MM group so needed a 3rd out there with TL and JJ/DJ.

Nojus looked great on offense but he got burned on defense a couple times, by a bad team. Expected for a true freshman playing in his first game, but Heise as the much more experienced player is probably going to make fewer mistakes there. TJ raved about Nate in the recent podcast with CW, I think he's really high on him.

The fact that Nojus played so much is a good sign for his development. Doesn't matter if it's just a buy-game, if you aren't doing what TJ wants on defense in practice, you don't play much. At least that is my impression from the outside looking in!

LOL you think TJ has playing time to divvy up, look at the situation Bill has to handle on the women's side. I've never seen our women's team have so much depth.

I like his game. I just don't think he's quick enough to stay in front of a lot of SG's in the league. He looks like a small forward to me where Nojus looks like a guard. I'm just looking at the roster and the # of players at each position. Lipsey, Gilbert, and Jones are about it to fill the 1&2 this year. We're gonna need a backup similar to Pav last year. Heise will get minutes but who's? Milan, Jefferson, or Jones? Just gonna be tough to spread minutes with this many quality players. I agree Heise is really good.

I couldn't be more excited about our bigs. Joshua Jefferson has an offensive game in the post like we haven't seen in quite a while. So smooth. Jackson is a beast.

We will lose a little defensively from what we had with Ward, Tre, and Big Rob last year, but the difference in offensive abilities is huge and was sorely missed at times last year when we needed buckets down low. I love how TJ goes out and gets grown a## men!
