Awesome news and don't take this as being a downer, but kinda worthless to point out "#1 class" when it's guaranteed we'll end far below that. It's reflective of gaining multiple recruits faster than anyone else. Only one five star has even committed anywhere.
Gee thanks Debbie Downer. We never thought of that.

First take: Conrad needs to be an assistant coach when he's out of eligibility

Second take: TJ needs to recruit the next CEO. Someone find the top basketball playing hype man every 4 years and make it a roster spot
Watching the bench last season it sure felt like Cade Kelderman was doing his best Conrad impression pretty much all the time.

It helps also, I think, to state it in a factual way. Right now there are only 24 schools that are even ranked in the 247 Composite. So you have over 300 schools without a commit at all yet. So, yeah, it's very early to even look at class rank.

You're saying we're going to land a few 5 stars?

If he wants to become a SEAL, I think it's best (most common) to be in the Navy, then apply and be accepted to the SEAL's? Inter-service transfers (from the Marines) are possible but not as likely, as he would have to be released from his first obligation.

He could also join the Marines, serve his tour, get released, then join the Navy. He could also be accepted into a SEAL contract, from the start of his military experience, but I think that is fairly rare.
I had a buddy from ISU join the Navy and try to become a Seal after he graduated (back in 95). It was shocking, didn't really expect that at all. He washed out of BUDS school pretty fast (like 99% of people).

Stuck with the Navy though, and he's a full Captain now, running a destroyer squadron as best as my civvy brain can understand. Not too bad!

When I got out of boot camp and was going through Radioman “A” school in San Diego. I took the preliminary test for the SEALS, run a mile, setups, pushups, pull-ups and then the swimming test. I then went over to Coronado island to check out where they trained. They have a hole in the ground where you can barely move and put you in it. I knew right then I was done. They try everything in their power to try to make you quit and expose all of your weaknesses.

Your right that the # 1 class will change this far out. To be a upper just having the #1 class at any point is an accomplishment. there may be 8-9 different teams that can claim that spot thus elite company. Even when. ISU loses the top spot they won't drop drastically this will be a top 20 class at worst.

57.15 would have been good for 20th in the country for the 2024 class (Creighton)

I wonder, in the current sports world (which will last for who knows how long), the order of priorities has perhaps dramatically shifted?

Top priority: the players you keep (you know what they are). 2nd priority: the players you get from the Portal (you know what they have done at some college level). 3rd priority: high school recruits (you have hope).

Fortunately, our staff so far seems to be managing all three levels quite well.

I mean yeah, you look at the top 20 from last year and HALF of them didn't even make the tournament. It'll be interesting to see how that changes with there not being COVID years anymore, but NIL/transfer portal has changed HS recruiting forever
