These kids deserve what they are going to get, which I hope is at least 10 years. You don't pull a gun on someone and deserve to go on your merry way. These two could have killed him! What don't you understand about that. It doesn't matter if its 11 dollars or a million you don't pull a gun on someone. I can't believe you wrote what you did. You have got to be out of your mind!

How is it violence to send these kids to jail. Its called living by the rules of law. You do bad things and you have to pay for them. We are not talking about them punching someone. We are talking about them threating him with a gun. All I can say is WOW you really don't get it.

Violence begats violence. Peace will answer the call of justice, no?

Why am I fighting to live, if I'm just living to fight
Why am I trying to see, when there aint nothing in sight
Why am I trying to give, when no one gives me a try
Why am I dying to live, if I'm just living to die?

That's an average poem. I've never read that before, but personally I have some strong disagreements with it. Anyway, it has nothing to do with this thread.

I was hoping to see a :jimlad: at the end there. Armed robbery isn't taken lightly. I would expect these 2 thugs to see some quality time behind bars. A 25 year sentence would be correct for this situation. I'm sure they both have a record because you don't just go from straight A student to someone who commits armed robbery.

Ohh, I hope they get it too, I just doubt it will happen.

Yesterday, my son was robbed at gunpoint while he was out on a walk - for a whopping $11. To make a long story short, he called his mother to come pick him up, they played deputy dog, and led the police to the robbers.

Turns out the police believe these same two guys have been doing this all over the west side of Des Moines.

In this society where people do so much to try to stay uninvolved, I'm very proud of him for maintaining his safety while trying to do the right thing. Of course, now that his name is out there I'm also very worried for him, but I'm proud of him more than anything.

Whoooaaaa at gunpoint? That makes it a major felony no probation just jail time. to the blue collor {censored} me in the {censored} crossbar hotel for at least 18 months thats with good behaviour. If he would have gotten hurt then more. Make sure you go to court to testify

OLD SCHOOL.

People who will rob you, will do worse.
Caesar's law.
I feel violated just hearing about your story and I want you and all of us to have justice.
Too many metrosexuals/soccer mommies do not understand justice and how justice of the state contrasts to personal religious beliefs.

In these tough economic times, I think the true victims here are the guys that got arrested. Sure they stole from your son, but look at their side of it. One day, when your son grows up, he may regret his choices.

This has nothing to do with religion in my opinion. I just think it's sad that these kids lives will be ruined over $11 in these tough times. I think a good talking to would've been more in order. Peaceful times call for drastic measures.

Can you put this guy on the list of people on CF that I don't want to meet in person? :skeptical:
I don't care how poor you are, how desperate you are or how many drugs you have taken - if you pull a gun on someone you deserve to go to jail. You need to re-look at your posts.

I've been poor before - my family never stole or pulled guns on people to steal their money. These kids might deserve a 2nd chance at some point, yes. But, this guy's son who did the right thing does not deserve to have someone like you tell him he was wrong.

agreed, there is a difference between the stealing a loaf of bread to avoid starving argument, and robbing people at gunpoint, where there is the very real chance that something could go wrong and the original posters son could have been hurt.

And, if the comments on the Register are true, they didn't use the money to buy food or other necessities, they bought pot.

Guns scare me.

Good job outta DJKent's son...I might have passed out if someone had pulled a gun on me.

Very brave and courageous of your son, he has been brought up with good values, you should be very proud.....:notworthy:

You break the law you deserve to go to jail, we are supposed to be in a civilized society, these men need to pay the price for threating a life for $11. That price should be severe in my opinion.....:skeptical:

So now we are comparing speeding in a car to purposely assaulting another person in order to steal from them?????

And you call us wet?
