110% agree with you. There's been times I've thought about going to a $20-30 event then their fees turn it into a 40 or 50 and I just say nope. Maybe those aren't the exact #s but it seems like they come close to doubling the cost of the event. I would think a 10% margin would be plenty.
I have a $199 concert ticket for December. Ticketmaster added on $5.50 order processing fee and $55.20 for service fee. So total of $60.70 in additional fees.

Is gate 1 the north gate? It was less than impressive there was about 30 people ahead of me about 45 minutes before the game and it took at least 15 minutes to get to me my tap and go worked just fine though.
Yeah gate 1 is the North gate.

This was my spot in line at 12:35, had already been on the bridge for at least 10 min by that point. Our group was not in the stadium by 1pm.

The bigger problem will be that if they dont sort this out they will have a bunch of people not using the bridge so that they dont get stuck in that entrances line. Getting there early isn’t going to solve this

Yeah Gate 2 had some issues with the scanners failing. There were just some people exaggerating their wait at Gate 1.
Gate one was an even bigger **** show than gate 2. Eventually left Gate 1 to go over to gate 2 with a relatively minor wait of probably 5 minutes.

We always enter early so it's not an issue for myself in particular. I think it should be better this weekend just because everyone has used it now. Hopefully there was more user error than mechanical.

DoorDash with hamberders is more believable, but your point stands.
You are more up to date, but 40 years ago, when the Iowa State ticket office and sports information office was training us students on taking tickets, the coordinator went through all the ways a gate crasher got in free to the Super Bowl and one was being a pizza delivery boy.

That leads to an entire different discussion - why does the AD even need ticketmaster? ISU owns the venue and the activities so why can't they just print their own tickets and sell them themselves?
There are other ticketing systems and maybe the AD will look at them when the contract is due for renewal (I hope they do). Ticketmaster's big selling point is they do take care of season ticket records, systems and sales probably the best. The times for choosing season upgrades, parking spaces etc, is ticketmaster. Also they keep track of renewals and assigned parking spaces. used to be they were the only ones with the software that had the ability to do all the season stuff, don't know if other systems have caught up.

Paciolan and All-In-One tickets are where it's at.

You add the season ticket to your wallet once, it automatically updates to the next event each week/event. Runs on QR codes so that you don't have the tap issues at the kiosk. It's an amazing system. The problem is Ticketmaster's 40 year head start.
Paciolan was around in the seventies, but they didn't have resources that Ticketmaster had (deal with control data).

Also Ticketmaster back in the caveman days had by far the biggest network of outlets for purchasing tickets, before the internet became the place for ticket commerce. Gave marketing departments and event promoters many opportunities for partnering with retail establishments to sponsor and sell tickets and get sponsorships as the "outlet" sales returned a % to the business.

Hell, record shops, radio stations, drug stores would fight for a ticketmaster outlet opportunity, usually a venue or promoter could help get an outlet started with ticketmaster if they promised to work on promotions.

All this gave them a huge head start on selling tickets and developing software and systems.

EDIT: Ticketmaster also had best call centers for phone orders back then.

-1 to Pollard on this nonsense. No excuses for what happened. This “new technology” has been working at stadiums around the country just fine for some time and it is unacceptable that lines move slower now. Don’t blame the paying customers for showing up when they always have and always will. He is better that this.

I listened to the podcast and he mentions that they’re removing the turnstiles so that people can just move through.

He also said that the workers will pull people inside the gates if they have problems and help them out while still allowing others to continue through the gates.

These 2 things are tangible solutions to make things better. He just said that if were him, he would allow 45min to enter, which is different than telling fans the only solution is to leave earlier

I'm not reading this whole thread, but acting like ISU and the new process failed everyone is BS. There is a large group that comes in late every game. The problem with the new system just compounded it. You have 6+ hours to tailgate and yet tons of knuckleheads trying to get into the game 5 minutes before kickoff is ISUs problem and ISU alerted everyone of the change. Who would of thunk a new process may have issues..... Get over yourselves.

Dear Section 19 ticket holder,

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience we caused by installing a
glass wall on the east side of Section 19 during the off-season.

The decision to install the wall was made last fall after receiving
positive feedback from the east side club seat holders. We should have
anticipated the wall on the west side was not going to have the same
positive effect as it did on the east side of the club section. The bottom
line is we made a mistake on this issue and are committed to making it
right.

Our plan is to have the wall removed, or modified, in time for Saturday’s
game. We may have to install a temporary solution for the remainder of the
season if a new railing is not available until after the season is over.
In either case, our goal is to rectify the problem this week.

We also plan to refund the price of your UNI ticket. The ticket office
will process those refunds to the original ticket holder’s account using
the original form of payment by the end of September. In addition, we are
also providing each account holder four complimentary single-game tickets
to our November 4th home game against Kansas.

I hope that you can use these complimentary football tickets to invite a
friend or family member to a game. The complimentary tickets have been
added to the account of the original ticket holder.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we work through this
challenge.

Go Cyclones!

Good for section 19. Hope the railing is not worse than the glass wall.
