Well considering there are people claiming they got to Gate 1 at Noon and stood in line for over an hour when I waltzed in through the same exact gate at 12:35 and got in at 12:55, I'm gonna go ahead and call ******** on it.
North entrance:

1. I havent heard anyone say they got in line at noon and had problems.
2. Everyone that is stating problems said it started somewhere around 12:15 or a little after.
3. It went from no issues to dead stop in a matter of a minute or 2.
4. Some peoples lines moved faster, some people cut in line to move faster, some came in the side and cut.
5. Most that came at or after 12:15 are saying they had a 45m+ wait

We went our normal time. That usually gives us time to go to the bathroom, check food, and get to our seats to see end of warmups, the pregame, the entrance etc, this week we missed the kickoff.
We got to the gate about 12:20 ish, and waited about 45m. You could see the mass line was starting as we walked up, and continued to get worse. We walked straight to our seats, no bathroom, food etc., when we finally got in, as we were walking down the steps to our seats, the pick six happened. So after the Kickoff etc.

The longest we have ever been in line before this is probably 10mins, always heading in about the same time. This was way worse, and I am sure it was really worse for those behind us.

I actually know people from our tailgate that left several minutes before us and were still in line long after us..

Just because you got lucky, somehow...Maybe one of the above mentioned people....others had far worse experiences.

How about to watch their favorite ******* team!!!!!!!
That you can see from your recliner, with all the comforts of home etc. The game day experience is supposed to be superior, but it is starting to not be, and the costs are starting to outweigh the benefits.

What gate? My son and I were at Gate 1 1 hour before kickoff and waited 45 min to get in.
Again, I got in line at 12:35, paid attention as the line was moving, and was in my seats by the coin toss. Some people had issues, sure. But there are people exaggerating their wait time.

Hmmmm..the scanners all stopped at once? Are they connected back to some server that had an issue?

#4 was one reason it got really bad really fast. There was a lot of that going on, but with the mass of people, there were no distinct lines to stand in.

Well it was random, I believe. The group ahead of me and my group never got the scanner to take our tickets after several mins of trying they just waved us in. We tried, the girl at the scanner tried, her supervisor tried. The scanner never read a single ticket. That was properly downloaded to my google wallet days before. My sister was right after me, on the same scanner, and hers worked ok. Took longer than normal but it read hers.
So it was totally random. And sure there were plenty that didnt download them, or tried to use screenshots etc. But there were plenty of us that did it the way we were supposed to, had the tap feature on etc and it didnt work.

Does "paid attention as the line was moving" mean you were lucky & got a glimpse of a break in a line or something? We arrived to the north gates around 12:35-12:40 - the 'lines' on the edges looked the longest, so we stood in the grass in the middle as we hoped more people wouldn't know about the entrances in the middle/grass area. There wasn't much of a line to "pay attention to", as nobody was hardly moving. Had attendants calling for emergency help right before we got in as someone had passed out or something.

By the time we got to our seats (section B, not a long walk at all), we had missed the pick 6 and maybe another drive. I assure you our wait wasn't because we weren't "paying attention to the line" - that's literally all there was to pay attention to out there FFS.

I was in the middle. There were plenty of people taking in the sites and not paying attention to the people in front of them allowing people from the edges to leak into their spot.

Guess your experience in the same location maybe 5 minutes earlier was night & day different than mine. I was right on the ass of the family in front of me the whole time & didn't see anyone creeping in from the sides to where we were in the middle. Was there for over 30 minutes waiting to get in.

I'm not worried about it going forward as we'll just leave for the gate earlier, but I don't think people are exaggerating as much as you're suggesting.

Doubling down on the lack of help as the driver. Someone needs to ask JP if cost saving has anything to do with moving totally paperless. Weldon, Williams, and Lick employees would really like to know.
I think CW said on one of the podcasts that Ticket Master was the driver for no more paper tickets. It wasn't the university. I think it is very common for events to not allow paper tickets. Jamie likely pushed to allow them as long as possible knowing our fanbase uses them.

Could be. Just communicate what the process was and why (other than covid negatively effecting the applicant pool).

That leads to an entire different discussion - why does the AD even need ticketmaster? ISU owns the venue and the activities so why can't they just print their own tickets and sell them themselves?

I am sure it was Ticket Master.

But...we have been doing digital tix for years now.

The only change was they went to tap readers, and no longer allowed screenshots, printouts etc.

The Tap function failed in many cases. It did in mine, some were able to switch to barcode and get it to work some were not able to get that to work either. The reader never read my tix, no matter who tried, or what they tried. And hundreds/thousands spending several minutes trying multiple ways to get a reader to read tix, whether it eventually worked or not, is what caused the huge backup.

Showing my age, but I started at a burger joint the summer between my fresh & soph years at college. I was thrilled when halfway through the summer I got a 10 cent pay bump...from $1.00 to $1.10 an hour. I mean, seriously - I had baby dinos to feed.

They paid in $$ back then? I figured they payed in cups of wheat or a pint of milk.

If I had to hazard a guess, it could be that for non-athletic events, talent are all pretty much tied to having to work with Ticketmaster so if you want anything happening at Stephens, Ticketmaster requires you give them control of other qualifying events as well. Or that if you have to use TM for non-athletic anyway, it's not worth the extra burden to handle sports internally.

In 600 BCE, Lydia's King Alyattes minted what is believed to be the first official currency, the Lydian stater. The coins were made from electrum, a mixture of silver and gold that occurs naturally, and the coins were stamped with pictures that acted as denominations.

So, KC probably got paid using those. She would have been about the right age in 600 BCE.
