I kinda wish all the people who think that collecting welfare is some kind of lottery would just go quit their job and collect welfare. For as much as they complain about it, you'd think they were jealous of those folks.

The biggest problem in finding employment is that there are literally less people around to work, period. The boomers were part of these massive families where everyone had 6 kids. Those 6 kids went on to have 2-3 kids, and their kids are maybe having 1 or 2.

We are literally making less people, so when someone from the boomer generation retires, there literally might not be someone (any one) to take their place.

And this is only going to get worse in the next 20 years. COVID sped that up, but there's still a few boomers working. More boomers than Zoomers coming in.

Just read Trump will be in attendance

Politics aside for a moment, I can't see how that will help crowd security speed
Dislike for the additional chaos. Who the hell thought ANY politician showing up for this game would be a good idea?

I was in my seat for kickoff but on the south entrance, several of the machines were not working or would have an issue. But I am sure a lot of it was user error.

But its not just the ticket issue. Construction, parking, cost, fees, requiring fans to pay players through NIL, commercials, etc. etc. are going to push people to stay at home at watch on TV. ISU is lucky with our fan base but you have to give people reasons to come to games, not excuses not to.

How about to watch their favorite ******* team!!!!!!!

Not sure why anyone coming across the bridge would not just go to the south gate. We got there around 12:15 and walked right into the stadium. The only line we saw was the people that were on the pass list, generally family I would guess of the players.

There have been countless reports of technology failure. That you didn't experience or see it doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Complaining about change is as much a fact of life as change itself is. I don't have much patience for it myself. But if the new system works, people come around and soon enough it's the new normal.

That very plainly did not happen here. Some technology failed, other places people were slow (which is 100% predictable when using new technology), but there was no plan to deal with any of it other than force people to stand there and wait. Pollard does deserve the heat for that.
And I think you've heaped plenty of heat on Pollard for this.

We get it, you're angry. It wasn't intentional. He apologized.

I thought they were open, but it's stupid there is no way to get to them from the hilton lots. That used to halve the amount of people going in the north gate. ISU should have built a walk way from the north.
They're open but only accessible from the South. That's how we used to always go in from the North lots. It definitely adds to the problem.

maybe everyone wouldn't show up at the last possible minute if they didn't shorten our tailgating window. last week I felt like by the time I got everything set up and made food it was time to pack up and go in. I wasn't purposefully waiting until 12:30 to get in, but I needed that much time to do what we wanted to do.
Opening the lots six hours isn't enough time for tailgating?

It's an ongoing debate and I'm participating in it. As are lots of others.

When someone admits fault and apologizes, the debate usually ends. Get over it.

If you don't want the same thing to happen this Saturday, then get to the stadium a little earlier, or don't and just keep complaining.

I'm sorry, who's continuing this "disagreement?"

Some of you forget there is a difference between, a part time entry level job vs a long term career.

Yeah many on here wont be signing up for these jobs. But many have had these jobs in the past, when they were unskilled, with no experience etc looking for part time work.

Saying, well you wont do the job so you dont have a say is pretty stupid.

You are right, I worked these type of jobs when I was a High school and college kid, when I had no family to be responsible for, when I was looking for some extra cash, experience etc and had no skill or experience.

I probably worked worse, for far less.

Does that mean I should not have anything to say? Really. Does that mean they should not pay more etc to fit the time, No.

But dont tell me or anyone else that wont take the jobs, that we dont have anything valid to say, because these jobs are not jobs for careers etc. Hell many on here are long into retirement, are you saying because they are retired and not going to work these entry level jobs they have no valid complaint?

But a 16 year old can go take orders at McDs for $20 an hour, so it is going to be hard to hire anyone for $9 too. Neither of which are supposed to be careers, but instead entry level jobs for experience and extra income.

Im not going to be applying to McDs any time either. That doesnt mean I cant critique their food and service.

But if you want to attract anyone these days you have to pay the going rate it is the nature of extreme inflation and skyrocketing costs.
Showing my age, but I started at a burger joint the summer between my fresh & soph years at college. I was thrilled when halfway through the summer I got a 10 cent pay bump...from $1.00 to $1.10 an hour. I mean, seriously - I had baby dinos to feed.

Who knows. Meta data on my phone shows I got in line right around 12:35 and I remember the coin toss. I think some people are exaggerating their time in line for dramatic purposes just like people are claiming tailgating was shortened.

There was obviously a big problem. And it will need to get fixed.

But I agree that some—not all—are not exactly remembering things right.

My parents came from the north. They were in their seats by 12:45 and they didn’t complain about terrible issues.

Yep. Sounds like Gate 2's scanners actually failed, which they need to remedy. But there was a lot of human error going on and the heat didn't help things. Some people are just exaggerating at this point.
