I get the anger, but this should help things move faster, I assume.
Does it really though? When I've stood in line at Hilton, it's usually because either there aren't enough workers, the stand is out of something, the workers there have to step over each other to get something on the other end, or any combination of the above. Payment isn't the issue.

Honestly given the benefits of cards, you're throwing away money if you still pay for things primarily with cash. Not just the cashback or travel miles (and some pretty nice signup bonuses) you can get from cards, but the additional benefits like purchase and fraud protection that the cards give. Just pay it off in full every month.

when you're talking thousands of transactions, every bit to speed up the process helps.

As long as you’re not using them at restaurants or other places that are tacking on a 4% “card fee” to pay off the credit card companies, instead of just covering those fees as part of their regular business (by raising their prices, if necessary).

I’m waiting for some vendor to say “we don’t accept cash, cards only” and then also “oh, there’s a 4% card processing fee added on to the price, that’s Visa’s fault, not ours.”

(To be fair, I still use my card at those restaurants most of the time, it’s way easier than bringing cash, and that fee is usually only a couple of bucks anyway. I do wish those places would just raise their menu prices and then offer a “cash discount,” though … it just reads better.)

Cannot really be discussed here, but without going too deep, if everything went digital, your money can be set to expire, set to only be valid toward approved purchases, in approved volumes, etc.
There are also issues without needing to put on your tinfoil hat

Edit: without not with and fixed typo

If you give them a finite amount of money, you know how much they'll spend. Give them a card and you don't.

They can't be trusted to spend within a limit? There's your main problem.

Also, if you're worried about them making major purchases or something you could always set them up with their own authorized user cards with low limits. Could help them build credit as well.

Also most of those places tack on that fee before they even know how you're paying anyway.
