I think you would be shocked, a buddy of mine blew a .38 once. Should you drink and drive no? Has everyone on this site probably done it? Yes. People act like Huggins is protesting the special Olympics

Just saying don’t throw stones, no one got hurt thank god. It’s cost him 2 jobs now, 1.5 million people get them every year. How many of those lose a job over it?

2 beers in 30 minute’s can put you over the legal limit, have you done that? If so you should lose your job

I think people are just blind, I’m not a “drunk” but yeah I can admit I’ve drank and drove above a .08 many times in my life. There are 80,000 people every home game Saturday in the fall for home games and at least half of them drink 4 hours before the game every game. You think they are magically sober after the game? Doesn’t work that way.
You are projecting your own behavior on an awfully large swath of people. Let's give you the 80,000 people at every home game. You are suggesting 40,000 of them get drunk and then drive. You aren't even close. There aren't even that many parking spaces.

My tailgate usually has seven people and we consume a total of fewer than 6 drinks combined across an 8-hr timeframe. My uncle brings a bus load (25-30) and while a handful drink, it's maybe three that go over the limit and none are driving.

Yes he has been 40-years sober and leads nightly groups in LA after going dry and going to and administering meetings three nights per week out there for 40-years. He knows his business and what he's talking about in regards to Huggins and John Barleycorn. He told me this week that on average a DUIer doesn't get caught by the coppers until his 88th DUI.

It was a rhetorical question since you mentioned it more than once.

It's also pretty disgusting to have to pick up MT beer cans along the side of a (our) country road. Many people don't see the problem with that either, or just don't give a damn. Drinking and diving is wrong. Littering is wrong. Someone who is drinking and driving and littering is somehow disgustingly wrong.

Do you also drink and drive and litter? Care to defend that?
I’ve already said it’s wrong, how many times do I have to say it? You guys defend far worse people on this site than a drunk driver. No i haven’t driven drunk in several years now due to kids but I was young and dumb once. And people are littering? Now I’m ready to light my torch…let’s get ‘em.
Then you're ******* irresponsible.
Haven’t done it in years but it’s happened, I’m not afraid to admit it

Ok, now can you say the same for every other tailgate? Have you monitored everyone’s alcohol intake? No, so you’re projecting your own behavior onto an awfully large swath of people.

Do you think what Huggins did was OK or not? Is it OK for someone to drive drunk?

Are there a lot of jobs where you can be on thin ice after making public slurs, have a history of other drinking issues (known and unknown to the public) then do something soon after that goes public, and keep the job?

You were the only one who pooled together half of the 80,000. I gave objective examples why half was grossly overstated.

I am glad to read that you have stopped driving drunk. So which half of the 80000 are you in now?

Weird pick but he was a Huggins' favorite when he was in Kansas but was mostly a administration guy with some coaching only his last two years at West Virginia. Maybe there were players saying they would stay if he got to be coach for a season.
Thanks Surly.

Once is a mistake. "Many times" is irresponsible. I don't really care how young you are, but I will definitely agree that you're dumb.

I have no problem with drinking while tailgating, as long as it's responsible drinking. And a whole game does give the alcohol a chance to wear off. Unless you're in the south endzone contuing to drink 3/4 of the game. That's never seemed safe to me.

At one point in time someone told me that 25000 cans get picked up every home game in the grass lots alone. Those lots are 99% empty an hour after the game…go down there and tell them they are dumb as they leave the lots
