why does it need to be hidden?

If I am out running errands and runover/kill someone it's going to be on the 5 PM news with my name (and probably alot of my dumb posts from this site (lol)).

If it's a licensed driver than I don't get the whole "juvenile" argument. If the state deems you old enough to have a license you are pretty much an adult when it comes to driving notwithstanding some restrictions placed in some states. Not that teen drivers are typically good drivers but that's a different topic.

I don't know that I agree with the idea that a 16 year old with a license is pretty much an adult if they're driving.

Old enough to drive and kill someone then old enough to have your name released in the news.
Just seems strange that this niche thing was a belief that so many people apparently held before this situation happened. You all have been adamant for a long time about minors' names always being released to the public?

Not exactly sure.
And they were also released for this accident

Oh my, it appears Iowa city teens can’t drive worth crap. Two people killed in a short time?

I don't think I'm a big fan of hoping that a specific individual was involved in a fatal accident because they wear different laundry than I do.

I don't see much cheerleading like "Ha, ha, Iowa coach's kid is in trouble" sort of stuff at all. What I do see is lot of discussion on how the privileged class is treated by the police as opposed to how they treat regular folks. And, in this case, how the TV and newspaper press is just standing by although at least some did freedom of info requests and were told to **** off by IC police.

Minors names are often withheld , seems you want it released because of who his dad is.

It is the opposite. Minors names are usually released when they are involved in a fatal accident. It seems more like his name is only being withheld because of who his dad is, which seems shady as **** by the police there

Either release them or don't... but picking and choosing who's names get run through the mud and who's name doesn't based on who their daddy is seems pretty ****** doesn't it?

Not exactly sure.
But they charge people as juveniles all the time, should they not do that?
The situation should be taken into account. The driver will not be hit with 1st degree murder. I’ve had neighbors run stop signs and not get anything but a slap on the wrist when people died, so I don’t see anything happening here.

It will get released soon enough, if simply through a civil trial whatever.

People just are hiding behind the fact it might be the kid from a coach from the school down the road that was involved to feign interest.

It is so transparent.

If it was a coaches kid from Colorado State nobody would care.

The interest would be there for any school we play this year and especially any school we play every year. The interest would be there for a kid who was listed by some services as a 4 star recruit. Put those together and interest is not some mystery that only has to do with it being Iowa.

He probably isn't going to charged with anything and if he does it won't amount to anything. Teen here was found guilty last last year of "vehicular homicide and criminal vehicular operation" and is on probation till he is 21. 16 at the time, 18 by the time it got through court. Pretty much avoids the 5 year adult sentence if he doesn't kill anyone else before he is 21.

Every situation is different though, imo it should be none unless there’s a specific public safety concern. Like sexual assault that people should be aware of or something. As far as your last sentence I agree, but people specifically wanting him named because of who is dad is is also wrong.

Maybe those people have long held the belief of naming all minors, but I kind of doubt it.

So you are saying it is about competition and not social conscious, i would agree

And in no way shape or form would the feeling be as strong if this was Oklahoma State.
