Her not mentioning ANY of the coaches doesn’t mean diddly squat. All it does is allow the Bill haters to fill in the non-existing gaps with their own interpretation.

BTW …she didn’t mention the trainers, faculty, AD, etc. when will you all start to call them out? Maybe a prof pissed her off? Geesh….

I think you have to have your head pretty deep in the sand to not see it as a major omission.

Isn’t it fair to say that one thing we do know is that she didn’t mention Bill at all which only implies a negative connotation?

You are right, the reason doesn’t impact me personally, but it does matter with respect to the ISU women’s bball.

"Implies" based on what? Your opinion? You want to read something that may not exist and force others to disprove your opinion.

I may be wrong but you come off very emotional when it comes to Bill. I would only be that emotional if someone is attacking my family or close friends.

We’ll just have to disagree on the Lexi statement interpretation.
You can both be right.

The fact that Lexi didn't mention the coaching staff, speaks volumes to me. I agree that her relationship with the staff might be broken.

But does that mean the staff was at fault? Maybe from Lexi's perspective, but a coaching staff has to deal with 13 different personalities and 13 different development needs. Maybe the staff couldn't meet Lexi's needs.

I hope Lexi ends up at a school where she finds meaning and happiness.

Given she waited a few days after the public knew about her decision, her note of thanks and goodbye speaks volumes to fans, players, and staff.

she's 21 yrs old lived in Wisc and Iowa entire life....

call me crazy but some people just want to go try something different.

blame the system not the kid. this is her one chance to go play somewhere else before her career is over. experience different college campus. meet new people. maybe better school for her major. maybe was just ready for a change.

it's the transfer portal world.

Yes, my opinion. What else could it be? We are all stating our opinions here. Nobody knows for sure, and nobody has to disprove my opinion. “Force others” lol that’s dramatic.

Not a "Bill hater," however not mentioning the coaching staff DOES speak volumes. The core team of any sport are the players and coaches. Any team roster listing, of almost every sport, will list the players and coaches as the roster. All of those other positions are complimentary to the team.

Also typically when one leaves a job, school, group, etc, usually the reasons are cited, unless they're negative reasons, then kept quiet.

Testifying
You don't conveniently leave out the coach if you're thanking fans, teammates, the arena atmosphere, and University.
You just don't.

And with a post like this you probably write it, edit it, write it, and stare at it before posting.

Emotional? LOL. Just frustrated with the level of intentional interpretation and application of opinion oocurring here. People are ACTIVELY searching for bread crumbs to be able to apply their narrative to a story. I was making fun of those efforts as all point to the head coach but no other coaches or staff are mentioned in their attacks or interpretations. It’s 100% Fennelly or nothing on here. That’s just sad when the reality is…no one knows except those intimately involved.

MEM also didn't mention the coaches (or anyone else) while Maggie Vick did.
Vick had a long generic statement while MEM's was short and concise.

Make of that what you will.

Have been lurking here since I am a big Lexi fan and wondered if I was the only one shocked. I will not claim to know a lot (I actually know nothing) and I have only watched ISU basketball since she arrived. I have been a longtime women's basketball watcher, though.

I think there is almost no chance she ends up in Iowa City. The first reason is, as everyone said, there are limited or no spots. Second, though, she doesn't even follow Caitlin or Kylie on Instagram. I checked after Kylie left (wondering if there was bad blood) and they unfollowed each other. She also used to follow Caitlin and after checking just now, they don't anymore. I would say it is out of the question.

I predict schools such as UConn and Tennessee will recruit her heavily. After consideration, though, she would have to fight for a spot at UConn. Azzi, Paige, and Nika are guaranteed to get a lot of playing time next year. I know she was friends with Azzi (based on Instagram), but again, playing time would be the question.

She would likely fit well into Tennessee's program and they could use a guard like her. Oklahoma is another possibility if she decides to follow Aubrey.

The question is, what's her end goal? WNBA development and chasing a national title? I imagine it is not being the star of the team because, well, she would have likely been that at Iowa State next year.

While I could never see her going to South Carolina, does anyone see that as a possibility? Dawn obviously loves good defenders and she is one of the best in the country. Carolina's one weakness is 3-point shooting and she is a reputable 3-point shooter (struggled this year, but has proven success). They lose Cooke and Fletcher, and I imagine she could play alongside Raven Johnson as the 2-guard. Additionally, they have great post players, so that would open up the 3-point line for her.

I also thought Texas was a legit option, but she would have to compete with Harmon and Gonzales for playing time. Same thing with competing with Miles, Citron, and Bransford at Notre Dame for playing time. I imagine after 3 years of starting, she wouldn't want to come off the bench, but who knows. I also would hypothesize Indiana, but she is behind Moore-McNeil, Scalia, and Parrish, even though I believe she is an all-around better player than Scalia and would fit nicely in Indiana.

Other possible wildcards I could see are Louisville or Maryland. Both systems rely on defense and have used the transfer portal very well in the past, so I imagine they will be pursuing her hard. She would face similar struggles at Maryland as she did at ISU, though, since their post-game is almost nonexistent.

Then there are teams like Wisconsin and Montana due to the home / sister factors as people said. Also saw Drake comment on Twitter that she should reunite with a former HS teammate, so angles like that could play a factor.

The possibilities are endless. Wherever she goes, I'll continue watching and wishing her the best.

I was going to say just because a player enters the portal doesn't mean they are definitely leaving (even though likely), but damn, that Twitter post made it clear she is out. My guesses are Indiana or Louisville.

My OBSERVATION is that our HC leans toward an authoritarian style of leadership. My GUESS is that the leadership style was a factor in this transfer. My OPINION is that fresh perspective and healthy dissent at some level can strengthen the ISU women's basketball program.

My advice is, go to a program with a great coach, but not a ton of elite players, although a competitive team thas has top teams on its schedule...if such a school exists. She needs to develop, not compete for minutes on a packed team.

I also think that the reason for her leaving is pretty evident and not some big secret. I'd heard rumblings about her being unhappy well before this. You can say "application of opinion" all you want but these girls talk to people both within and outside the basketball program and alot of what people are saying is rooted in absolute fact.
