You seem very rational . For the record here are some of the stats:

Pryce Sandfort for Iowa’s Mr. Basketball for 2023. Leads in the following 4A Statistic Categories: Total Pts: 648 (1st) Boards: 285 (1st) FG Made: 223 (1st) FG Attempts: 418 (1st) 3 Pt Made: 90 (1st) 3 Pt Attempts: 211 (1st) Def Rebounds: 249 (1st)

Lined up against Omaha, he beats him in every every stat including total rebounds and shooting percentages. My ONLY argument was that Pryce did in fact deserve Mr. BB (since one of the children on here said he only won because of retired old IA sports writers voting). I acknowledged Omaha has by far the greater college/pro potential but that’s not what wins Mr. BB.

And as to why I’m here: my two boys graduated from ISU and I TRY to root for both teams.

This is the most hilarious cherry picking of stats I’ve ever read.

Well done. You’re a perfect fit as a fan for Fran’s permanent mediocre results.

I will add it this Friday!
In the range of dumb arguments/posts, this doesn't make top 10 today!

Omaha is the best high school player in the state. Sandfort has been an outstanding Iowa high school player and Hawktj has the right to be happy. I'd love to have both. However, ISU got the star, Iowa got the solid role player.

In HS — Pryce. As I stated, long term in college and Pro, very likely Omaha due to his potential and athleticism, though that will still have to be proven.
OK how about AAU ball

Oh please, stop with this garbage...

Here's a great way to determine who's a better basketball player. If you could choose right now who you'd want on your team? Not who has the most potential in the NBA or even in the NCAA.. Who is better right now? It's Omaha and if you choose Pryce you're absolutely lying to yourself. The voting would be 99% Omaha if you did a poll excluding ISU and Iowa fans for bias purposes. He's a McDonald's All-American for a reason.

This is true (Omaha wins the "who would you pick first" determination). But the "garbage" post was true too. The other player had a great HS career and Sr. year.

Yeah I should’ve specified what I was calling garbage and that was the subtleties in the post as well as him saying Pryce was a better basketball player, not that Pryce didn’t deserve the award.

I've never seen shot attempts celebrated as the primary goal of basketball, the guy is so dense there is legitimate humor value.

Yeah I mean that’s ridiculous lol. Same with mentioning head to head wins without mentioning Sandfort’s stats not being that good at all in those games.

Take the time to post all stats (if you’re capable of doing that) comparing the two. You’ll be surprised at what you find.

And to all of you. Pryce won Mr. BB. I know you are disappointed. But rather than simply saying the voting was fixed, why should Omaha have won? And yes we all know he is a very athletic 5* and is expected to be a star at the next level, but unfortunately that’s not part of the voting criteria.

Pryce will be a good college player, and this conversation isn't a knock on him. Omaha is just a freak athlete that frankly neither Iowa State or Iowa gets traditionally on the recruiting trail. There is a reason he is a McDonalds All-American that is showing up at a lottery pick on mock drafts.

I don't follow Iowa high school basketball. I follow some national recruiting, some college basketball and NBA.

I have never before come across a life form who looks at all the available basketball stats (at any level) and choses to lift up shot attempts as the gold standard by which players are measured or who leaves out all per game or per minute stats.

Because he is the better player.

Iowa player of the year is cute. Omaha is the deal, I know it’s tough to handle. Have fun with another kid that fell into fran.

Why did you deliberately leave out their head to head stats when they played each other?
