Actually, a pretty thoughtful post. I agree with most of this. I take exception to the last sentence - a long career does not necessarily translate into a better career.

Again, if you want to talk about best college career by his criteria, it would be hard pressed to have a better college career than JBo, a guy who racked up crazy career stats in a 6 year career. He also only had one 3rd team all-conference season in the six and never made it out of the 1st weekend of the tourney. I mean is that a better career than a guy who makes a 1st team all conference team and heads to the NBA after year 2? I don't think so, but that's just me.

No one questions Omaha has the far better potential In the long term (both college and pro), hence his 5 star rating. Better player in HS isn’t based on potential. In HS it’s all about the stats and winning In determining Mr. BB. Pryce has the edge in stats in virtually every category including rebounding and they won 2 of 3 in head to head. So to blame his winning on “voters who are old Iowa fans” Is like blaming officials for every loss (and yes we fans all do that). But, give Pryce his credit — he deserved to win. Additionally, Pryce will most likely be at Iowa for 4 years, Omaha a max of 2. So who is likely to have the better college career?
You can't be serious with this post?

I don't think Hawktj was arguing Fran vs TJ performance. It was responding to Omaha vs Sandfort stats posts. They said Sandfort had better stats in most categories. Someone responded that Omaha did. I have no idea.

I'm very happy to have Omaha and if TJ won a recruiting battle for Sandfort I'd be happy to have him. This is nothing to get butthurt about.
You seem very rational . For the record here are some of the stats:

Pryce Sandfort for Iowa’s Mr. Basketball for 2023. Leads in the following 4A Statistic Categories: Total Pts: 648 (1st) Boards: 285 (1st) FG Made: 223 (1st) FG Attempts: 418 (1st) 3 Pt Made: 90 (1st) 3 Pt Attempts: 211 (1st) Def Rebounds: 249 (1st)

Lined up against Omaha, he beats him in every every stat including total rebounds and shooting percentages. My ONLY argument was that Pryce did in fact deserve Mr. BB (since one of the children on here said he only won because of retired old IA sports writers voting). I acknowledged Omaha has by far the greater college/pro potential but that’s not what wins Mr. BB.

And as to why I’m here: my two boys graduated from ISU and I TRY to root for both teams.

The fact you posted that he’s first in shot attempts and 3 point attempts tells everyone all they need to know why he averages more. Omaha actually likes to involve his teammates and this might be shocking to an Iowa fan but there’s another side of the game called defense. Omaha completely alters an opposing offense. Something Pryce doesn’t do at all.

Sure going to be something when Pryce gets absolutely bodied next year (if he plays much). Will really show TJs ability to make Omaha into a better player in only a span of 5 months.

How boring does your life have to be to create that many handles on CF? I've maintained one for 15 years since I was a Junior in high school without having to run for the hills and come back with a new identity.
You must not be doin' it right! LOL :D

Where did you find these statistics?
