The spelling police or the peolple who complain about the spelling police? The puncuation police must be a top secret organization and, never show themselves. Is proper punctiuation punished by banishment from message boards? And you never know what really happened? This is the off topic forum leave me alone.

The most annoying are those who start a post on the subject and it contains multiple spelling errors itself. :jiggy:

Starting a complete thread about the subject would rank #1.

Would the paragraph police be considered the punctuation police, or are they a different entity?:policeman::radar:
I think these 2 smiley's should be together for the board police myself. Perhaps they all need the radar smiley as their avatar?

The people who don't use the spell check feature when it's available to them. Can anyone say "lazy"?

This thread is rediculus. You are preaching to the quire.

You see ridiculous misspelled on here often...but the recent misspelling of choir was classic. I don't correct people on their misspellings but I find those that cannot spell to be annoying. And there is an epidemic of poor spelling on this site!

It's a nationwide thing. It doesn't seem like the education system is putting much emphasis on it anymore. The internet and text messaging aren't helping the cause either.

I teach spelling to my seventh graders every week, and it doesn't make a difference. Sometimes, the creative spellings I see aren't even phonetic. It is an epidemic! :chatterbox:

I'm one of those that fall in the spelling/grammar police myself, but the ones that always make me laugh are the folks that want to point out someone else's spelling mistakes and that post is riddled with spelling miscues itself.

I concur. I have never understood the difficulty in spelling for so many people. it blows my mind!

Probably starting a thread about it is right up the list, though.

Here's my thing....we don't know each other's phone numbers and can't exactly have conference calls to discuss the Cyclones or other topics, so I do think it's important for people to be able to understand each other when they write on this board.

A spelling error or punctuational error here or there doesn't bother me too much. What gets under my skin is when a post has so many spelling/grammatical/punctuational errors that a damn rocket scientist can't understand it. What's even worse is when that poster who can't write gets all defensive when it's pointed out. If that makes me a pretentious elitist, then so be it. On forums like this, it's important to be halfway articulate.
