Absolutely bananas that these two teams were picked 8 and 10 in the preseason poll.

ISU got picked 8th pretty much every single season under Hoiberg and the average finish those years was probably 4th.

If we have a good year this year (again) and have two elite recruiting classes lined up, I would think that trend finally ends.

We ended last season at 171st in offensive efficiency

There's a certain amount of "just win baby" but outside of OK State it's been nice actually seeing some good offensive play lately and knowing we'll probably be very good with players that are coming in.

Tonight was an objectively well played game on offense and defense by both teams if you just tuned into it without a fan interest.

Huge win! They have some offensive players that are tough to stop and they make tough shots, and to beat them with Grill hobbled is even bigger.
I really don’t like Tang. He is constantly freaking out on the sideline.

Side note: what was Grill thinking flailing himself around after he got fouled? You have a hurt back you don’t need to be doing anything like that. Then right after the foul on the three.

With respect to Tang, I sort of felt the same way, but I listened to the post-game presser that CW posted, and that modified my opinion of him a fair amount.

Haven’t seen much talk about the crowd…was at the game and that was one of the most sustained energy games I’ve been too. Not the loudest because K-State hit some clutch, key 3s but the crowd got into it on every single key possession. Not sure how it sounded on TV but it was a fun as hell game to be at.

Our offensive efficiency keeps creeping up on KenPom. Up to 57 now.

I feel like we weren't even top 150 last year.
I get the feeling that at least some of our offensive woes last year was due to the amount of time that we had to use making sure that our defensive identity got installed properly. This year, we have some guys who already knew the system, and brought in some guys that really fit into that system easily. So we can probably spend a little more time working on offensive sets.

Well for those watching at home it’s hard to grasp the great environment because it looks pitch dark past about 15 rows up on TV. It’s too bad IMO but what do I know.

What was the call in the 2nd half when officials stopped the game? Came back after TO and ISU had the ball. Was thinking a T on Tang, but came back and announcers said nada.

Better point guard play by TL, better outside shooting by Gabe/Grill, and Osun have made us steadier on offense. Just a better team this season overall.

The ability to finish at the rim this season is quite a difference. Holmes and Lipsey are very reliable in that aspect.

Oh well. The recruits know it and ISU fans know it.

Hopefully the rest of the basketball world knows it in late March.
