I am probably in the minority, but I don't see the necessity of ISU being active in the transfer market this spring. Obviously that is contingent on return of guys like: Grill, Ward, King & Jones. I would think about sitting back and maybe giving the 13th scholarship to Hawley.

I like where TJ & staff have us positioned for next year:

Guards: Lipsey, Williams, Grill, E. King & Hamilton
Wings: Watson & Biliew
Posts: Jones, T. King, Ward, Momcilovic, Fish & Hawley
Maybe we will be less active than years prior, but if you have the chance to improve your team with talent and experience, you do it.

Updated 247 Top 150 rankings. Huge jump for Fish gives us 3 in the Top 150.
Couple takeaways:

Why is the #5 recruit white kid from Kansas going pro?
Top uncommitted prospect? Bronny James.
Kentucky bag men making a comeback.
Right side bar. 2023 Recruiter Rankings. 2nd JR Blount.
#65 recruit going to College of Charleston?
Kid with the last name Ames (#72 recruit) going to K-State.

We may only grab one guy MAYBE two depending on what happens with other guys.

Drew Timme with hops.
He's a late second rounder I'd assume. Will be interesting to see where he'd end up if he's thinking of staying and transferring for his final year. I can bet you 100% that our staff knows about him.

I think we'd want a transfer center for sure. Or another guy that's 6'-9". If you can upgrade over Robert Jones and Ward, you do it.

A transfer 2/3 that can shoot would be nice too, either as a starter or backup to replace Kalscheur/Holmes and add experience. I hope no one transfers out, but it happens every year, so we're bound to have 1-2 more scholarships than we think. Ward and King could definitely want more playing time somewhere else, or Bob Jones and/or Grill decide not to come back for their covid year.

Ward would have to sit out a year so I'm guessing he's not going anywhere. I would be shocked if King leaves too.

I’m not sure if this is what you meant, but I don’t think you “upgrade” over Rob Jones. If he wants to stay for his COVID year, he’s our backup center—and effective at it.

What we need is a starter at the position to fit in with the depth of 4’s we’re going to have. That’s where the transfer/grad transfer comes in.

Right now Rob Jones is the likely starter. You take a transfer that's better, then Jones is the backup. Who do you have starting over him at C right now? Ward?

Right now we aren't starting a four but bring King in very early, usually with Jones. If we don't add a Starting 5 I could see the same scenario next year. Omaha starts as the 5 then Jones comes in 1st whistle and he and Ward split the bulk of the minutes after that.

I seriously doubt that. You always want bodies to compete. Loosing multiple starters you need to replace. Adding either a big or a high efficient guard is the way to go

I think Jones is more likely to start at the 5 than Biliew. I could potentially see them starting: 5- King, 3/4 - Biliew/Momcilovic. + Grill and Lipsey. That might be enough height/athleticism to rebound.

There isn’t a planet where Jones is the “likely starter”. Not any more than he was this time a year ago.

Penciled in would be “a transfer”. Again, just like a year ago this time.

That's why I said they'll go after a transfer 5.

You were the one who suggested I had Jones penciled in as the starter. He isn’t.

My mistake, I misread your post above. We agree, we need a transfer center.
