Anyone know if we are looking at Juco shooters for next year?

Holmes seems to struggle early and get going later, doesn’t work great when you get that far behind early.

He hasn't necessarily regressed. It is just that teams have scouted him and learned that he can't go to his left. They overplay him to the right and take away the floater. Not sure if he can come up with a counter to that or not.
They did this to Brockington last year (left side) and he responded with a "F-you, I will score anyway."

We need Holmes to get some of that attitude.

Maybe we should play Eli King more?

This team could really use a McGee type 3 point shooter to help spark the offense. There are 2 guys at Indian Hills that look like higher end shooters than anything we have on the roster right now.

Shooters for what? TJ only cares for defense which they can’t even defend as seen last night. His defense has been figured out so welcome to Prohm 2.0.

Quote: "Osun being totally void of offensive skills and post presence was a surprise (to me anyway). We really struggle to finish inside. Robert Jones is the only big who can possibly put it in the basket."

I know we all love Rob and respect his work ethic and improvement. Offensive stats:
RJ - 33/60 FG, 55.0%,
OO - 34/65 FG, 52.3%

Also, Osun is 14/16 on FTs, 87.5%
Rob is 8/19, 42.1%

OO - 17.3 minutes/game
RJ - 18.2 minutes/game

Osun has to play better.
Rob might not be able to.

Yeah I agree. Rob just seems like he is doing more since we always for some reason don’t expect anything from him. If they post the exact same numbers in a game, it seems like Rob played way better when he actually didn’t.

We all love Rob's energy, but he's pretty overrated on the board. People would swear up and down he was far better than Conditt last year, but the numbers just didn't paint that picture.

Not to discount his improvement over last year, though. He made a pretty significant jump during the off-season.

TJ recruited Milan and Jelani because they are shooters/scorers. He knows he needs scorers. It will take them a few years, however. In the meantime, I hope we can find a really good scoring guard/shooter transfer, but those are highly sought after.

Was talking to a St Bonnie booster at O'Hare this summer and he was not happy about me being an Iowa State guy.
Mentioned how much he heard both of them received to come here and I was surprised and told them ISU didn't have money. But now this seems to be the norm.

As a Cyclone fan, it's tough to accept Mad Fran is a VERY GOOD offensive coach. Iowa is not the team to double team the post or trap on the perimeter. They have solid passers and great player/ball movement. They got open shots and made them!

IMO ISU's defensive style is still tough for most teams. But I wish there were times, like last night, where we play straight up man. Avoid scrambling and leaving open shooters.

Also have a lot of hope that Tre King will be a big addition to our half court offense.

I'd be relatively optimistic that we can land a high scoring guard in the portal this offseason, since we're losing Holmes and Kalscheur. Lipsey should be a real attractive PG to play off the ball with. I also think Milan will have a huge scoring impact next year, and would not be surprised if he averages 12-15ppg and shoots 40+ percent from three
Whoa whoa whoa....nice shooting tex.

Everyone needs to back way off on what the expect next year from Mikan. this dudes a freshmen, the big 12 is going to scout him and devour him like it does everyone. He will be a great player but everyone needs to settle down.

We can't depend on a freshmen to come into the big 12, fix all our shouting problems, and average 15 a game. How many freshmen in isu history ever do that? Not many.

10000000%. We can't run out the same defense against every team, we need to adjust it some for specific teams.

Totally with you on the main point, need to get to a place where freshman immediate contributions are a bonus and not something we're counting on in December the year before.

But don't sell Milan short. He's a very highly ranked player who was excellent against the highest levels of competition this past summer. Having Omaha in the fold has overshadowed is now the third ranked recruit per 247 that ISU has gotten in their era. Only behind Biliew and Brackins, ahead of guys like THT, Wigginton, Hunter, and plenty of others. He's got a chance to be a real difference maker immediately.

(Also, I just love his game and have really high hopes for him.)
