Anyone know if we are looking at Juco shooters for next year?

I don't know about any extra shooters, but give credit where credit is due. An offensive system where the same two guards with the lowest FG%s on the team chuck up the highest volume of shots (by a significant margin) is really something.

We need to go old school. Feed the 4 and 5 at all costs, and play smothering D.

He hasn't necessarily regressed. It is just that teams have scouted him and learned that he can't go to his left. They overplay him to the right and take away the floater. Not sure if he can come up with a counter to that or not.
Yes, scouting and the fact that he's not so explosive - using Brockington as a comparison - are key factors. You're right - he doesn't go left much.

With Holmes and Grill, it's not so much shooting but ability to create space to operate. Though in an ideal world, both would be more consistent with their shots.

Would probably not go juco and go transfer route for a shooter. Juco don’t usually have many good players since prep schools usually get their grades up so they can qualify for D1. Juco used to be big because it’s where all the grade problem kids went to get better grades. Prep is that route now.

They had one lined up this year, and then the Bucks offered him a contract.

The problem of getting a shooter is how much can they be paid. The kid Creighton got was given like 250 or 300K... Its not as easy as it once was. Hell if we could get find a way to get JBo another year I would take him.

That said this team currently has a higher offensive efficiency by around 50 points vs where last years team finished, but still have to go through Big 12 play.

Hes not the St Bonny transfer we should be the most worried about

Osun being totally void of offensive skills and post presence was a surprise (to me anyway). We really struggle to finish inside. Robert Jones is the only big who can possibly put it in the basket. Praying Tre King is an all American.
Holmes is good. As somebody said, as people have gotten more data points on us, they are better able to defend us. It’s tough when he has no other consistent scoring threats as guards. We need either Gabe or Grill to score. That appears to be a very infrequent event.

AJ Green being a butthole really wrecked our chances of being a good shooting team. Grill is far too inconsistent with his outside shot and Holmes just doesn't have it. Hopefully Momcilovic and Biliew can help our outside shooting as they both seem to have solid outside shots, but our outside shooting this year looks horrid.
Milan will help with spacing next year but don't count on that with Omaha. His shot is very much a work in progress still.

I just can't be made to feel that bad about the AJ Green thing, mostly because this team needed more than one guy who could reliably be a threat from deep if they wanted to avoid the horrific offensive lows we saw last year and likely will see pop up again in the B12 season.

I also don't buy that every single competent shooter commands too much NIL $ for ISU. That's just obviously a defense mechanism for this fan base right now. The big thing is whether or not you prioritize it with roster construction and who you recruit.

Milan and Jelani are going to help a lot with spacing issues next year, but I'd rather not be completely reliant on freshman to carry that entire load. TJ just simply needs to care more about offensive skill with some of the spots on the roster, IMO. I'm a believer that it's easier to coach a guy who's skilled on offense into being at least a competent team defender than it is the opposite.

Holmes can get himself a shot. No problem. Threes. Bunnies galore. Problem is, he doesn't make a lot of them.
Until someone else steps up (Grill v UNC) Holmes has to be the guy to make shots. Like you said. His problem isn't getting a shot. It's making one. Especially, early in this game.

Next years guard as of today are 1 junior, 2 sophomores and 1 freshman. Need I say more?

Steph Curry shot lights out as a freshman guard. Age does not have anything to do with shooting ability. If you want to go down a notch or two since Curry is the best shooter to ever live, AJ Griffin was stroking it from deep last year as a freshman as well.

When I heard we were getting a defensive POY from the A-10 I was thinking more Jameel McKay, looks like Cam Lard instead.
I wish he looked more like Freshman year Cam Lard and not the Sophomore version.

Gabe and Grill are the swing players. It's just like last year except we have poor man's versions of Hunter (Lipsey) and Brockington (Holmes).

Yikes $300k to go 5/22 from 3 against Texas and Nebraska.
