I may not have had the normal experience after reading some of the above comments but I did have a job that involved driving when I had mine done. I was back at work the night of my 24 hour checkup. I never experienced halo's or any problems at all when driving at night. I also checked out at at 20/20 in one eye and better in the other at that 24 hour mark. 4 years later my vision has remained the same. I know my experience is probably as rare as those that have major complications but I would recommend this surgery to anyone. Good Luck!

I think you were lucky. I did that and couldn't hardly drive, thankfully I had a partner that night. I honestly didn't even realize what they were talking about with the halos until after the surgery- then I knew exactly.

Take all the valium they offer before surgery, go home and have a few beers or margaritas, and go to bed early. Wake up the next day and things will be much clearer.

I think mine surgery was $3200. It was the best money I've ever spent

Drive by and take a good long look at Jack Trice and Hilton.

Just in case...

I have enough painful memories of Jack Trice that they are etched in my brain.

LMAO:biglaugh:.

Warning: Lasik can sometimes make the JT experience less enjoyable. Witnessing undefended Texas A&M post routes for TDs to no-name receivers at 20/20 can be hazardous to one's health.

It is totally awesome and very low risk. I literally had it done down here in Columbia a week ago today! My eyes were a bit sore that day but I could watch TV and whatever by 7 or 8 that afternoon and was back to work the next day. It is kind of a creepy process since you can see everything but there is no pain.

I can say the worst part is them sucking up your eye, then your vision goes black and you can feel (not pain just a feeling) that they are cutting the top layer of your eyeball off.

Next worst part is the smell after the laser. Burnt eyeball smells bad.

Seriously, you'll be fine!

I had mine done in 2004 for $3000. I had trouble with my eyes being dry with contacts (from being an old guy) but I used the course of drops they recommended (about a month) and I haven't had any problems since and use no drops. I drove myself to my appointment the next morning. The halos were kind of wierd but not too annoying. After a while you get used to them and then one day you notice they're gone. I'm 20/20 in one eye and 20/15 in the other. See if they'll give you an Ambien for the night following surgery. One thing I always recommend is to take a towel or blanket with you to cover up your head on the ride home. Even with dark glasses and your eyes closed it is bright. My 21 year old son had it done a couple months later and is 20/15 in both eyes. Loves it.

Man I so wish I could get Lasik, I would be in here in a heart beat. But unfortunately 2-3 years ago wolfe told me I was not a candidate for it.

I was told back then they were in the process of approving another process of inserting a corrective lens in your eye like is done in cataract surgery. I am hoping this gets mainstream soon so I can get my eyes fixed up.

Same thing happened to me. They said I had Keratoconus. It wasn't all bad though. I cashed in some stock options to pay for the surgery and since the shares are down $12.

Here is a little update.

I had the procedure done at Wolfe around 1pm on Wednesday.

I was out the door by 2pm.

Absolutely no pain during the procedure at all. The only weird thing is when they put this suction thing on your eye ball and the smell of the laser.

They gave me a velum, I went home and slept 2 hours. I woke up around 4pm and had a slight burning feeling in my eyes until 6pm. After 6pm I haven't had one bit of problem at all. They game me some clear plastic patches that I wore all day last night and will wear them again every night for a week.

I went into Wolfe this morning at 8am and my eyes are at 20/20. The doctor said he could see that they were a little fuzzy but they would clear up. The only vision issues I'm having is with lights. He said this would also go away with time.

I would grade the whole thing an A+ so far.

This must be in place now because I saw it in a brochure at my eye doctor's office just last week. You should check into it. IMO, it looks like it would actually be better than Lasik, because if your vision ever changes, they can simply change the power of the lens.

Great news, dmclone. I'm glad to hear everything went well.

Congratulations!
