At this point, he's just a former UNI player. Good luck to him. How bout we close the ******* thread and discuss players who might be willing to play at ISU.

Persona non grata. Next.

And a coach’s son. Best of luck to him.
We’ll be all right.

I have heard of recruits using visits for a free trip and to get wined and dined......clearly he was looking for an all expense paid trip to Ames, lol

Can’t be too upset over something we never had in the first place.

It does suck if there aren’t contingency plans and we’re sort of “stuck” but also I’d like to think our staff was smart enough to know this could happen.

Still, it’s hard to tell a transfer recruit, “hey we like you but only enough if this other SG goes pro so hang around and wait to see if he does by June 1st. K thx”
That is a little easier sell when Plan A has a parent on the basketball staff.

who in the world that has watched us play would have suggested him at point?? Of course I wouldnt know much about his handle, because I don't remember the guy dribbling more than once at a time or once a game.
I agree, he would be a perfect fit for the former 6 on 6 Iowa HS girl's game that limited you to 2 dribbles.

I’m still miffed by the decision… I think we can almost all agree that AJ will NOT get drafted. Can you make it in the NBA without getting drafted? Of course. We’ve heard of Ben Wallace, Fred Van Fleet, Udonis Haslem, and those old enough to remember—John Starks. All of whom had somewhat lengthy stays in the league. But those odds aren’t great. Most that go undrafted, have a cup of coffee in the league and disappear. His dream was the NBA and not an overseas journeyman correct?

How does coming to ISU change any of that? He would still be very unlikely to get drafted next year regardless of what he did had he come here.

Accept his decision to go pro. We have no choice but to accept his decision. He obviously wants to move on from college and find out where he lands professionally. Hope it works out. He is a great young man. Good luck.

oh ive accepted it.

i just dont understand it from a pure basketball perspective.

maybe it'll come out that he has a guarantee or that he just wants to play over seas, which is totally fine.

How did you get scammed?
One thing being overlooked, hes exactly the kind of player who could have gotten Hilton rocking when he got hot. Last year people were bored out of their minds most of the home games because we'd play really good defense but couldn't make a basket for 6 minutes.

We only went 5-4 and easily could have been 4-5 from the West Virginia game. A large part of that is because Hilton wasn't very intimidating. I guess defense travels though so we'll have to get used to 5-4, 4-5 splits instead of dominating at home.
