Outdoor iceskating rink downtown by the river...IMAX theatre at the Science Center...Nice wine tasting regularly on court avenue...my family can spend days at Barnes & Noble...community swim times at places like the middle school in Johnston...tons of places to eat or get a micro brew...
Poor kids.

Living History Farms is fun if you are interested in that stuff.
ALso a fan of Prairie Meadows
As far as Minor League Baseball it doesn't get much better than an Icubs game in the summer.

I’m thinking of going to Monster Jam tonight at the Well. On one hand monster trucks are sweet and it would be fun, plus they have $8 beers. On the other hand I would have to drive downtown, find a place to park, walk to the arena, wait in line, buy tickets, walk to my seat (which may involve stairs) and then do all that in reverse minus the ticket line to get home afterwards. So you could say I’m still undecided.

I'm not saying it is Chicago or NYC, but IMO if you are bored living in Des Moines, you're either not trying or you are a boring person by nature.
Agreed. Now, if you live where I do it's understandable to be bored all the time. (Best entertainment = watching the cars go by on I-80 or working)
