Hey there!
I was wondering what type of generator people use in the fancy lots. I picked up a regular generator and not an inverter generator because of cost. I’m kind of worried about the noise for other tailgates, but it might just be me worrying about nothing.
Let me know what you think! Go Cyclones!

Not exactly sure.

Show up early and get a spot where you can slip the generator in kind of an away spot or around a corner type thing. Or stick a couple posts in the ground and a small board to shield the sound if you are really concerned. Some people will have amps cranked to 11 on their stereos so it probably won’t be heard anyhow.

Sign up for an interest free card at a big box store and treat yourself to a Honda.

Been in that situation before as when we had an old RV we sometimes would get a pass to the paved RV lots and we had one of the noisy generators. If you can park near one of the ditches and sit it down there it will muffle the sound some. Sometimes someone with a nice quiet generator that had more power than needed would just come over and offer to run a power cord to theirs if we shut ours off. Funny thing now is we no longer have the RV yet have access to 2 invertor generators to run our stuff at tailgates in the grass lots.

If you shop around you can find some affordable invertor generators that are not Honda brand that are just as quiet. Not sure what they go for now at Home Depot but I bought a 2200 watt Ryobi invertor generator for under $500 on sale several years ago and my tailgate partner has the Honda equivalent he probably spent over twice what I did and mine is nearly as quiet as his is. Not sure what all you need to power but we run a dish receiver and TV and sometimes a mini stereo off 1 generator with ease. May add some slow cookers and griddles to the mix this year which I'm sure we will have to use 2 generators to load balance.

BTW, just take it off your taxes and let uncle Sam pay for about half of it. That way you can afford the nicer one. I have a 10KW gas one that can run a couple 230s with. I should bring that and and just let it run to tick people off.

Newbs go in the back.

My wife wants to bring our Generac with us to power a TV and crockpots. I am trying to push back on that due to noise.

Predator is a decent, respectable brand at Harbor Freight if you don't want to pay Honda prices (and I wouldn't). I'd definitely use an inverter generator at a tailgate though. Nobody wants to party next to an industrial operation.

Read a couple reviews comparing the two. Price wise it’s a no brainer. I think the Honda puts out just a little more power but it seemed pretty minimal. Durability I thought the nod may have gone to Honda but it wasn’t by a lot.

I have to agree on noisy gennies. They definitely disturb the tailgates around you. What is the worst is when someone brings a noisy gennie and puts it on the other side of their vehicle so it doesn't disturb their tailgate as much but is blasting someone else's. Please don't bring the gennie if it is really loud.
