Too bad we didn’t have that standard when we replaced Fred. I said all the Coaching Candidates were better Coaches than Prohm. So all will be an improvement. I want Coach K. Grand Slam Hire. JP doesn’t even have to interview other Coaches. Even though to some it might look bad not having a wide open search.
Crystal balls and all.

I've seen your snarky reply about Coach K about five different times. You need new material.

Yep lol. I loved how Prohm told everyone last year that he knows we needed length and athleticism so that's what he brought in for this year with recruits.. Turns out those long and athletic guys can barely dribble a basketball.

Bingo. I was all for CSP staying through next year, given his new young core, top 30 recruiting class, but outside of Walker and 4-5 games of Foster, it’s clear it’s going to be a struggle to stretch the floor or be any sort of mismatch for anyone next year. Hunter is a class too late.

So you are comparing coach K to TJ?

You are being obtuse if you think the reaction of hiring Coach K vs TJ given their resumes, or lack there of would not elicit an entirely different reaction.

Um, he's wrapping up his 2nd year.
Try a fact here and there instead of trying dumb and insufferable.

EDIT: For factuality, wrapping up his 3rd year.

LOL. Craig Smith is 0-1 in the NCAA Tourney. I think Craig Smith is a viable candidate. But should I mark him off since he hasn’t won an NCAA Tourney game? Success with previous coach’s players. Do I have to exclude him?

You do you, bro.
I'm not gonna bother checking his USU roster over these three years, but a quick glance there shows 3 years of big winning following a dude who could barely break .500. Not exactly the same.

And goodness, not winning an NCAA game is common at that level, but you're aware of that.
Is TJ guaranteeing your Social Security or something?

I don’t have an issue with TJs post season record, as that’s the way it’s going to be for a team in the Summit league. I was responding to the post stating that TJ is a better candidate than Prohm was when ISU hired him in part because Prohm did not have success in the post season.
TJ has a history of post season success at SDSU. Post season success for small schools is making the NCAA tournament. Prohm only did that once at Murray State.

If you look at Prohm and TJ side by side one has more post season success. TJ wins by far.

TJ only did it twice.

I don’t think TJs resume is far and away better than prohms was.

It isn't. Prohm arguably had the best resume coming in of TJ (presuming), Floyd, Eustachy, or McDermott.
Still had glaring holes, and a little bit of digging would have shows us that he had a lot of red flags, but pretty much the best one coming in.

If Smith is hired, he has the best mid-major or whatever resume coming in by a lot.

That's okay.......I bothered. The three years before Smith, Tim Duryea's conference record was 7-11...7-11...8-10.

The three years since Smith has been coach Utah State's conference record has been 15-3(champs)....12-6(champs) and 15-4(2nd).

Of course not, and you don't exclude TJ from the search.

But USU won 17, 14, and 16 games the three previous seasons before Smith. He's going to have three good seasons to start his tenure there. Medved took over three horrible programs and got them all winning.

TJ is not a bad candidate. But based on his record as a HC, I think it's fair to be underwhelmed to hire a guy when you are the only power conference team interested. He might do well, but I think the ceiling is pretty low. Being a mid-pack MWC team when the last two recruiting classes were tops in the league doesn't suggest he's the guy to develop players and maximize rosters that people want.

Sorry, but two years ago TJ was the fallback option for a MWC team when Beard bailed on them. And in that time I think it's fair to say Smith and Medved have outperformed him.

Apparently you haven't been reading the 1k+ posts of CFers wanting Fred.
I've been reading and commenting, so yeah I do know people want and think we can get Fred. I would also like him.

He actually won the MW title in his first year. The previous coach at Utah State finished 8th, 8th and 7th.
They finished 2nd year 2.

He actually went from the Summit to MW and continued his level of success. He has already proven he can go to what is perceived a tougher conference and compete at the highest level

Given where both started in the Summit, and where there are now resumes are not close to equal. TJ's needs much more work. If they somehow manage to win the MW conference tourney that would certainly help TJ's resume some

I’m saying at the time prohm was hired.

When Prohm was hired by Iowa State, his resume at that time is not as good as TJ’s resume today. Prohm’s resume today totally sucks. Driving a program into the level below Basement Dweller does that to a resume.

I was looking up the 6 coaches who got caught cheating. Moore was the one Fred let go, and actually our own Robinson was the other, his first stint here. The other four were football coaches.
