This year could be different given the pandemic, but college coaches from all over the country, including assistant coaches, normally flock to the tournament. It's the perfect setting for Pollard to interview candidates under the radar.

I don't know what is going to happen, but I do like Steve Prohm as a human being.

I'm sorry it didn't work out. I am sad.

To brighten everyone's day ... remember when EIU bitched about Lute Olson so much that after a Final Four at Iowa he took a job at Arizona and got a National Championship?

That was fun.

Lute Olson had the problem of not going anywhere in Iowa City without someone wanting to say something to him or his wife....His wife Bobby (I think that was her name) HATED IOWA CITY AND THE FISH BOWL LIFE!

Lute was from the Sun Belt and wanted to go back there ...Arizona was the perfect landing place!

It was also fun to see Olson's Arizona team manhandle Kansas inside Kemper Arena...I knew then that Olson had a good chance to win the Natl Title.

Unless they have someone all lined up and need to hammer out a contract quickly there is no reason to fire Prohm immediately. He’s run a clean program and has some great wins and brought in some great players like Tyrese Halliburton who will be an all time cyclone great. The man has earned some respect. He doesn’t deserved to be fired right after a game.
Prohm should have gotten the McCarney and Rhoads treatment. Everyone knew he was getting fired so let everyone know and let him finish out the year. It solves the logistical issues with Pollard being on the selection committee. It gives potential hires time to assess their interest. It can also involve a search firm working along while teams are still playing and have it ready to go maybe the second weekend or so as most coaches are done by then. We don’t need to hurry but we shouldn’t waste time. The late stage of hiring is part of what got us Prohm in the first place.

I am not sure how respectful it is to keep him hanging on like this and facing the media

My assumption is Pollard has had his guy for awhile. That side is done done and done. He's good friends with Prohm and it will be a friendly separation meeting and emotional for both. That's just the way its going to happen.

This would be outstanding.

Actually, Lute was born in North Dakota. Little town called Mayville.

It should have already been discussed, don't see why Indy has to have anything to do with it. The writing was on the wall before now - having that discussion this week/last week with a "barring running the table" disclaimer should have covered it. Then just announce today.

Football is a bit different where there is a lull period between the end of the regular seasons and the bowls. This gives time to gauge interest without interfering with the post season. In basketball, the post season starts immediately so good coaches are focused on that right now. Any coach that isn't preparing for games this week are ones that we probably don't want.

I'd be very surprised if Prohm hasn't already been told that he won't be retained. But Pollard would want to be present during the press conference, so he can't announce it yet. A coach that thinks they can stay on would say so. This is all about hammering out the buyout terms.
