One thing I can say with 100% confidence is that today we were not better. Lincoln Riley almost pulled a Mensa to lose that game.
I can absolutely say this. We made a lot of stupid mistakes and really played poorly (so yeah in that case you are right the better team doesn't do that). But once we settled in and played our version of football we were better. Basically shut them out in the 2nd Half and the offense finally got moving. Again even at best. Lose the turnover battle 3-0 against OU and you 35 yards to win the game? Yeah I could argue you could be the better team.

Imo revering back to the pocket put Purdy back in his mode where he goes for broke instead of just letting him do what he does best.

The last three weeks, he extends that out further and hits Kohlar and Hall for at least a 20-some yard gain if not a score.

Instead, punting with the arm.

MAYBE by his senior year they'll acknowledge that he's not a pocket passer and doesn't throw a good long ball and it's best to tell him to just find the open guy on the wide side.

That's not a rip on Purdy. He's a gamer, but he's best at what works for him.

Manning needs to help him out and call some better plays that suit him. And as I've said 10 times now out O line needs to improve. If he isn't running for his life or can actually step into a throw without a defender about to steamroll him he will make better decisions.

If we are going to get better, some things must be recognized.
1. Our OLine sucks. Always has, always will.
2. Brock will have a good CFL career.
3. Brock doesn't have any arm strength. He can't throw the out pattern. Who would draft him ?
4. Brock will be back next year. He needs to stop reading the Russell Wilson comparisons.
5. A jump ball, crossing pattern offense will fail against really good teams.
6. The defense can't cover the deep ball.
7. Thank goodness we play in the Big 12.

and, some "fans" just insist on posting ridiculous crap on CF

I get people being frustrated, but this is NOTHING like typical ISU. At best typical ISU against OU was go +4 in turnovers, play a clean game and still lose.

OU played a way cleaner game. ISU made all the unforced errors. And still very much could’ve won. This team is actually not very good in the margins and I’m OK with that. They are just a flat out good team that never quits.

Great season Cyclones. Let’s regroup and go win a NY6!

I'm just pissed that our great season is much more pedestrian now. No Championship, likely no NY6 bowl, drop in the ranking probably to double digits... People will inevitably see the loss and think we didn't belong or OU just had a bad game (when it was certainly us with the bad game), the last drive riddled with penalties and poor OL play resulting in the pick, ... Just the whole thing is going to feel demeaned. It'll feel a little better if they win whatever bowl they get into, but still not nearly as good as winning today.

You got a conference in mind that this team wouldn't at least compete in?

I was in the 'Big 12 isn't that good this year' camp but as the season has gone on, they're fine.

No ****. Just went 8-1 in the Big 12 with a school record scoring offense, probably the best defense in school history. And most of it comes back. But they want to fire people.
When the B12 went to play everyone I thought we were doomed.
Guess what, I was wrong. This guys showed heart, it's time for some d bags on here to show some heart as well.

And best of all? We do have a shot to be back in this next year.

We still have a Fiesta or Alamo bowl to look forward to!

I've never said we wouldn't be where we're at without Purdy. But he was consistently bad today, and that along with horrible special teams cost us our only Big 12 Championship ever.... period. Those are the facts.

Horrible special teams and 3 INT's lost us the game. Pretty simple. Brock is a great QB.... but just HAS to learn you can't always make a play when there's absolutely nothing there. He did that multiple times today.

Doesn't help when you're on your 3rd string RT going against that d line. Pressure makes a lot of QBs look bad.

I have no clue what Purdy was thinking there.

The receiver broke deep up the sideline when Purdy scrambled and got behind his primary defender. Maybe Purdy saw that and thought he was open, but there were 3 more white jerseys back there. Would prefer to see the receiver break back to the quarterback when he is running for his life.

Really hope we find ourselves in a NY6 though as this team deserves it. I would hate for these guys to not at least get a shot at one of the other top teams because we are absolutely a top-10 type of team. The Alamo would be a let down honestly. Normal years no, but I think this team deserves a NY6 game.

We'll get a great bowl game. Think Fiesta or Alamo Bowl.

A scheme that suits the offense in general was needed.

This OU team gave up only 85ish yards/game rushing and was tough up the middle.

So the game plan to force it into that and and put Purdy in statue mode was baffling.

Same with Hall. OUTSIDE ALL DAY.

Get him and the line moving to one sideline or the other early to get OU responding instead of going toe to toe.

I really thought this board would be better behaved after a loss today.

Such ******* ********. It takes nothing away from the season. It doesn't change 8-1 in the conference. Finishing the season around #10 would be ******* amazing. That's not predstrain.

And I'm not sure why we think there's no chance at a NY 6 bowl.
