This program is not progressing. This is the head coach’s responsibility. I hope he can fix it but it’s pretty clear he will not take the steps necessary to turn things around. CPR part two.

I have more faith in Campbell than I did with Rhoads, but this is reminding me of the 2012-13 stretch that was the beginning of the end for Paul.

Coaching tenure gets off to a great start with some big wins. Sign coach to raise and extension to avoid losing him to another school. Followed by a ‘meh’ year with high expectations that ended with a dud in the bowl game. Start off the next year with a perplexing loss to a low/mid major.

I’m fully onboard with Campbell, just hoping he will address the current deficiencies in offensive and special teams coaching. I really really don’t want to see this end the same way.

We have had three games in a row where we just look like we don’t give a damn.... but maybe other coaches have figured us out. There were some bad play calls and the team wasn’t ready to play. Having said that we still should have won ...

Kolar, Newell, Brock all being injured were big IMO. Purdy looked terrible and uncomfortable. Wasn't crisp and confident in his decisions. Something is off with the offense, completely obvious.

We will know we are there if we slay UT or OU this year yet still blow it against KU.
That is the sign of end times

Offensively we’ve figured nothing out in 5 years. Defensively, I think teams have figured us out a bit in 5 years. Offense needs address, if not, yes he’s out of gas.

Life of a Iowa State Football fan:

Hire a coach. Has some early success. Fans worry about him leaving. AD gives him an extension and a raise to try to keep him here. Said coach then shts the bed. Rinse and repeat.

Agree 100%. It's just so hard to maintain success where there's never been any. For every Bill Snyder or Frank Beamer there are 100 McCarneys.

Purdy was also getting chased down from behind a lot. I kept expecting a change at LT but never saw Treiber. The drops were also terrible so while Purdy wasn’t great I expect him to bounce back given the right support

What I saw out there today, looked like our last head coach

Lot of thinks looked like the year after PRs liberty bowl dud...just feels like the horses aren’t there anymore

I am really uncomfortable with what I am seeing offensively the last year or so.

You are describing both the Walden and McCarney tenures.....Our coaches who get extensions, then....just seem to regress and never get better.....Sad but True
Campbell is starting to confirm what I've always feared of Iowa State football:

Success is minimal and fleeting.

Sustained success is not possible.
