I'm going to the game this weekend to see ISU's first road win of the season!

I've never been to a game in Manhattan- any input on where to go / what to do? Thanks in advance.

east of the stadium along Kimball (the road on the north edge of the stadium), there are public lots. Thats where we tailgated in '06, and will likely be again if we come saturday. It was a good time, as there were a TON of ISU fans there, and the KSU fans were friendly. Be warned though, that they graze sheep in these lots most of the time, and the locals call it "Sheep Lot" (like we have "grass lot"). My buddy became quite ill after the 2006 trip, and we blame it on the sheep... Also, keep the booze in cups and you'll be fine. The tailgating scene is decent, the best I've seen in the Big 12 after ISU, but its still a ways off from being Ames quality. Still a good time though.

PS, Cardinal&Gold11, your sig made me **** myself laughing. Sunny is the best!

We will be there again, 2 years ago we went early and had a great spot that could be good for all the ISU fans to go. If you look to the right of the lower right end of the stadium and go straight east there is a small road that leads to Denison ave. You can park in that small lane. The fans don't show up there as early as we do so 4 hours early we should get front row, we will have our I-State tent up by then, maybe 5 hours early depending on my wife:wink:

A group of friends and I are heading down there as well. I read on their website something along the lines of 'University and state law prohibit the possession and consumption of alcohol.' Whats that all about? This means we wont be able to 'openly' drink our beer?! Anybody tailgated there before know if they're strict about this?

heres the link, scroll down to tailgating...

Also.... any advice as where to eat/party would be great. we're heading down there friday so we're lookin for a good place to eat and then drink afterwards.

Manhattan has a wal Mart, a McDonalds, and a best Buy. Marshall Dillon and Dodge City is also down the road.

Forgive this slight aside, but which radio stations will carry the KSU game? Any on the Cyclone Radio Network that can be picked up in Mnahattan? I always listen on the radio to get explanations, etc. that I can't see or don't understand.

I've heard it's more of an open container law, and if you just have your beer in cups than it's no problem.

Thanks all for the help, good to know the options ahead of time. That's ok about the "sheep lots", they kind of had me nervous anyway!

As well they should have. A Fanatic poster who shall remain nameless (it wasn't me) was puking his guts out for 5 days after our trip to Manhattan. Sheep lot got him good...
