Didn’t know any that were hitting 2k employees, so I was certain that several of these had done full scale testing. Will always miss a few because you never have 100% attendance at these places.
So much emotion and assumptions with Covid that it’s hard to pin facts down.
Yeah, the misinformation is at an all time high for sure. I do know that the Guard was called in to help with testing at several meat packing plants due to the high numbers.
Yeah, was thinking St Joes had 1600-1800 employees and they push close to 20k hogs daily.
The article April 28th from the Courier about the Waterloo location closing says 2,800 employees.
No. Fab floor and slaughter floor are completely separate. Not even on the same level. If that’s what you’re asking.
Most Will consider their slaughter side and the processing side two totally different entities. The slaughter floor has a lot of work comp another type things and are usually more difficult to staff so they try to keep separate it seems
I mean, on some level i do understand it over the long term. After this forced experiment in large numbers of employees working from home I would imagine a good number of employers are going to decide to make that permanent or semi-permanent and significantly reduce their office space footprint.
While there are a lot of benefits to more people working from home, when wage growth as a society has generally been pretty slow the last couple decades, it may have consequences for society if a bunch of businesses are essentially offloading their office costs onto their employees and pocketing the difference.
Just talked with a friend that works at a major employer in Des Moines that had a town hall call this afternoon. Had an exec speak about their role on Reynold's Covid task force. Apparently said very bluntly they are disappointed as there has been zero requests for freedback from the task force members and only getting announcements sent to them. Basically said the major employers in DSM metro are interacting with each other in regards to move forward as a group since Governer's office has shown no interest in feedback.
