I can say for sure that the "masks required" policy at Menards now is not so much a requirement as it is a loose recommendation that is in no way being enforced.

That's too bad. Menards is a great example of a place that absolutely could be open if people wore masks, limited trips, went solo, etc. But the refusal of people to do that is exactly why we aren't going back to normal anytime soon.

That said - there is a lot of self sorting going on right now. Check back at Menards at 6AM tommorow morning and I bet you'll see almost everyone in a mask.

Lol, it has nothing to do with delaying going back to normal. The quickest way to go back to normal is it spreading to more people and building immunity. We aren’t stopping the virus.

then why is no one proposing intentionally infecting the population? Are you proposing that?

Nope, can’t get everyone sick all at once. It will happen fast enough with our restrictions being eased up.

And what about the 100M+ of us for whom the disease is very dangerous or it is for someone we live with / care for? We should just go ahead and die already?

The 100,000+ that it is very dangerous for can stay at home. Staying in isolation though and slowing the spread doesn’t get us to normal quicker.

You don't understand in the slightest how many people could die if we just open everything back up, including restaurants, stores, sporting events, etc without any treatment or vaccine available..... do you??

You're clueless buddy. We're talking millions.... but as long as it's not you, you aren't concerned, right? You feel like you're healthy and won't get it probably, am I right?

Clueless is you since you clearly don’t know how to comprehend what you read. Show me where I said we need to open up everything at once? What we are doing in Iowa is just fine by me.

Local parks are jammed packed today.

Last weekend I took my daughter for a bike ride (she was in one of those pull-behind things). We rode by the park and she asked if we could stop. When I told her the police officers wouldn't like that, she pointed and asked why those people were at the park.

She spent the rest of the day playing on her playset in the backyard.

How many deaths are acceptable to you?

Is there a number of deaths we would hit where you'd be open to changing your mind and closing things back up again?

I guess I'm confused. Just a couple of posts back you said 'slowing the spread doesn't get us back to normal quicker'. Was that not an endorsement of opening everything up, especially in the context of your other posts which seem to support just that?

Yes slowing it to the degree you want it to be slowed is what I mean. Doing what we did in March prevents nothing other than people getting it a few months later. Our measures we are taking to open up are fine by me so far.
