Tested 2711. Hasn't the average been around 1,000 per day, or maybe slightly more? Sounds like it was more mass testing of meat plants.

Hopefully the mass testing continues.

that is good. Still under 30,000 total tested.

This is clearly an appropriate time for a no bid contract. Whether it is a good product or worth the money is maybe up for question but the no bid aspect is not.

It may be an appropriate time for a no bid contract - but then the Governor is obligated to be completely transparent on how the company was picked and how $26M was decided to be spent out of state instead of at our state universities at a time that the state is in a budget crunch.

So the point of this TestIowa site is what again?

To make it look like something productive is being done without the root of issues being explored more in depth.

It reminds me of what big companies do except that's usually just dumb business decisions instead of what could save lives.

Illinois extended its stay at home order through May. Also, face masks will be required in any public indoor place, and outdoors if 6ft of social distancing can’t be done.
Elective surgeries will be allowed May 1st.
Golf courses and state parks will open back up May 1st.
Retail stores can also open back up, but must do curbside pickup.
Brb, moving to Illinois

I don’t disagree but talking about it being no bid undercuts your complaints IMO. I’m no fan of the governors pet procurements but they need to be appropriate criticisms.

for sure - if there's a good website that has hospitalizations per population listed I'd love to see it
I've been hearing the hospitalized, ICU, and ventilators being used numbers every day, but I'm not spending time tracking the numbers myself.

Things are cool in Iowa but kim wants nurses to volunteer because they are running out of them in nursing homes.

This is a Fantastic post!!! We cant be living in fear! I understand the need to take precautions, but judging people for not wearing mask is just not needed. Let people live their lives.

We are all someone else's "other".

Opening back up with masks makes much more sense than opening up with people not wearing masks because they feel healthy and have no idea how the concept of wearing masks stops spread.

I've not read one report of anyone thinking this is overblown volunteering or taking a job at grocery stores.

So allowing elective surgeries seems fine, but farmers markets? I wonder if Farm Bureau is pushing her for this?

Info on the company that the $26M no-bid contract was awarded to:

Per my understanding those questions are on the Iowa assessment as well - and the contract with the company specifically mentions hydroxychloroquine as a "treatment" for positive tests.

So asking if you are allergic is now the same as pushing it as a treatment? Perhaps they are looking for people for a controlled study, at best.

I agree. Big farmers markets are packed. No way people maintain 6 ft.

Not actually listening but I think Farmers Markets would be dependent on how it’s done. I’ve heard there’s going to be limits to what can be there. I also heard that there will be some focus on the availability of going to the actual farms. I know for example there are government programs that provide money to low income people to purchase food at farmers markets.

Do you want testing or not? Seems confusing at this point.
From a trusted source? Yes. You can’t see why some people don’t trust the governor taking advice from Ashton Kutcher?

2711 tests is a good sign though.
