"A fan shoved me out of his way as we were marching in formation back to the buses. He decided to cut through the band and shoved me out of his way. I yelled, 'Do not put your hands on me, sir' and he yelled back, "**** you."

This is the **** Iowa fans are up in arms about.

All four of them? I find that difficult to believe. Not saying it didn't happen, but why would all four of them leave the group they were supposed to be watching out for?

There are multiple police and security standing outside the gates at the end of games. Find it hard to believe not a single one wasn’t there even if the escorts were ahead of the band.

Back to the broken ribs...when was this reported? Unless they were rushed to Mary Greeley, they would have likely don’t an x-ray back in Iowa City, likely on Sunday, and at the earliest in the ER late Saturday night when they got back.

And if they are mad about being told to "get the f off the field" suck it up baby, you shouldn't have been on the field in the first place.

I'll actually disagree with this.

The best place for their band to be is separated from the crowd and having them go down to the field does that. Pretty sure that's been standard procedure.

Wherever I go, there I am.
The police do have all this information now. It was given by those who saw it when the investigation was reopened.

I swear the lengths some of you go to Protect The Cyclones is sad and disgusting. I pray none of you have daughters.

Also, if you hate a team so bad that means there is something missing in your life. Just a sad situation all around. If you “hate Iowa” you need to look in the mirror an evaluate your life and temperament.
If the police now have the information (and the cooperation of the alleged victims and witnesses) then we should give them a reasonable period to do their jobs. They have already been hindered by the U of I trying to control the narrative, which definitely did not serve to protect students or anyone else.

I dont know what actually happened and neither do you (nor does most anyone else (probably) posting in this thread).

I will hope that a relatively unbiased investigation can occur, with the professionals not further hindered by athletic departments, universities as a whole, and irresponsible social media and media reports. Odds on that?

You should report this to the news if you're comfortable putting it on a message board. Really important information.

Yeah. I’m really surprised he’s doing that here. There are many many many many better media outlets to share his story.

If police reports were filed, wouldn’t you be able to obtain them with FOIA requests? Maybe not with actual names on them, but wouldn’t you be able to see the reports were filed?
There are limits on the disclosure of reports during an active investigation, but eventually we should be able to see what is actually reported.

I’m fairly certain our band was on the field at Kinnick when Jake Knott sealed the win with his tip-drill interception.

If the band wants to go on the field to celebrate and play the fight song I really don’t care - if that bothers someone then they have pretty thin skin.

Why do you pray we don’t have daughters? Males can also be sexually assaulted.

The poster you’re responding too seems to be here with an agenda.

Amazing they would waste all that time to provide all of the illogical and accusatory posts.

Every single person here is saying if this happened, then the people that did it should get all the punishment available.

This guy seems like he’s trying convince us that we are questioning the actions of their ad and band director because we care so much about Iowa.

I’m sure they’re all over Hawkeye sites telling all of the other ******* hawk fans about how we are excusing the actions of fans because we hate Iowa. Look at the **** they’re trying to pass off about how it’s never gotten physical for Iowa State people in Iowa City.

We hate Iowa, but unlike the poster you’re quoting, we also will call out our own.

And that language used sounds like what all 18-22 year olds use these days.

That line really stood out to me. No kids talk like that, especially when around other kids their age.

Like I've said before.... there's no way this turns out well for Barta... and probably Harreld too.

I can't see any scenario where this works out for Barta at all. Such a tool.
