This abbreviation is mostly used by fans only. But IDGAF

Also, I'm not including their most successful single, Brick, because that one got overplayed and doesn't really fit the overall style of the group in my opinion.

A hip-hop jazz fusion that I always loved, but never got much attention outside of one single. I still play their whole Hand on the Torch album from start to finish. Love it

You know what is surprisingly awesome hip-hop jazz that I stumbled on yesterday with my songs on shuffle? Parental Discretion from Straight Outta Compton album, specifically the last minute or two, they must have had some pretty solid players in there with Easy and Ice Cube on that one. I like that fusion too and I'm always surprised it's not more common, James Brown is kind of in that realm too in a way. That guy would have been a hip hop legend instead if he had born a generation or two later, a lot of his songs are pre-hiphop hiphop.

This band got swallowed in the mix of the Seattle Explosion. By the time I heard their stuff, Soundgarden (for example) already was having success with similar sound and I preferred more of Screaming Trees and The Posies territory. But worth a track for this topic.

For my CCR entry, plenty I could choose, but I’m going slightly off the map.

Two signature Creedence-groove sections sandwich a tempo-climbing, psychedelic guitar-jam interlude. Continues to mesmerize me.
