Yeah, he gets a lot of attention, but he doesn't have as many of the "WTF?" calls that Eades does, for example.

In a game where adrenaline and emotions run high I like the "this is my only warning" approach.
I remember watching him at that T'giving tournament in Niceville, FL (Illinois, VA Tech, UAB) when I didn't know his name or who he was and thinking that he did a good job there. The dude gets selected for some very high-level NCAA tourney games and I presume someone is grading these guys.

Why is it always so difficult to find the post game press conferences? (full one) cyclones.com has player and coach interviews up but didn't put up the press conference.

I think Higgins is easily the top Big 12 ref. He has done Final Four games I believe on several occasions. He really raised the ire of Kentucky fans a couple of years ago by calling a lot of fouls on them that they don't normally seem to have called. I thought I saw him ref"fing a Big 10 game a couple of weeks ago which surprised me as I had thought he was primarily doing only Big 12 games. He and Fred seemed to get along very well years ago.

Someone on another site mentioned a nine hour bus ride to get to Ames.

What’s the story here?

I agree that it could have been called, but it could have not been called too. The official determined that Lard was yelling in the KSU guys face, but it looked to me like he was just yelling because he got a dunk. I have certainly seen a lot of other players get away with stuff like that without a T. Lard does need to learn to keep his focus on the game at hand
Lol... No. Lard was turning his head and following the KSU player. He was screaming right at him. You'd have to be wearing the darkest cardinal and gold glasses to see anything else. I don't necessarily agree that it SHOULD be a penalty, but it definitely was consistent with how they call it.

This. If somebody doesn't think that he was doing it directly at Sneed they are blinded by bias or have a Standard Def. TV.

Well, no matter what, Lard needs to learn from this. In the end ISU was way up so it didn't really matter. Maybe he was aware of the situation and that is why he did it. He is an emotional guy out there.

Nah he just lets his emotions take control of his judgment. Part of his growing up will be getting beyond that. Think Ejim, even though he flipped the crowd off in Utah.(Probably deserving) Ejim had fire but he usually kept his focus at laser precision.

Great. I'm looking forward to the bashing of Surly and he goes and posts something like this.

However, does he really feel this way? Or is he the master who knows how to troll us even after a huge loss by softening us up?

"To bash or not to bash, that is the question." We need a poll.
Well...considering I told CF I ate his girlfriend on Valentines Day, I probably can't go back to being nice to him. Oops.

True, but I think his perpetual case of red ass propelled him to the heights he attained.

Totally agree with you about Lard's T.

"Hollywood" Higgins has a reputation as one of the best in the business, and while I would much rather have him then Eades, it's that kind of BS call that keeps me from having the same level of respect for him that others have.

I don't know, it seemed like I saw some guys getting warned (THT I think) about some excess talking to the KSU bench during the game, so the players should have known not to do something that would result in such an easy T.

This is kind of old new for Cam, though. He gets a mean dunk and yells, and that's OK by me and any good fan! But he has to be just a little more self aware and not make eye contact with the defender while he's doing it, lol. He was going to yell after that dunk no matter what, but the KSU guy just happened to be standing there so he kinda directed it at him.

Overall I'm pretty happy with the great effort the whole team was putting in this game! They played hard.

Quick guide for Cam

1. Dunk on some fool
2. Turn around and run
3. Scream all you want

Still don't get all the surly hate. Reasonable poster, maybe makes too many threads. But, what the f, it's a message board.

As fans of another school who regularly visit here, only surly and our friend from Toledo come to mind as being worth having around. All the random rest of them can pound sand.
