You may not need to love the process from the outside, but it may prove wise to respect it lest it build & run you over.

Like I needed more reason to hate Texas. Fuel on the fire, I suppose

Campbell needs an interpreter for what he's really thinking when he speaks respectfully about situations.

ISU just got a freakin' QB that chose them over Ala-freakin'-bama.

What's Herman want, an apology?

Watch Bevobase say he needs to offer more scholarships if he doesn't win much the next two seasons.

I remember when they ran Mack Brown out of town. One of the contentions was that his staff was getting lazy on the recruiting trail. They were still signing a bunch of 4 and 5 star kids, but they were just going after guys from their backyard, getting commits early, and not keeping a lookout for hard working kids that could help the program more. They missed out on a lot of kids, from Texas, who blew up during their senior seasons and would have loved to got to Texas. But Texas was full up and these kids ended up going to Baylor or OU or some other school. Then in a few years when these Texas highs school kids were beating UT, everyone questioned why UT didn't go after them.
The high ranked kids they did sign would come in and expect to be great by default. They were getting outworked by teams with three star kids who busted their humps to get better.

This was fully evident when Rhoads and ISU beat Texas at Texas. The Shorthorns made a comeback late to make it close, but they were getting beat 28-7 in the fourth quarter because the ISU kids were outworking them. I remember everyone was in love with Rhoads for a while after that. Unfortunately Rhoads didn't recruit like CMC does, and it looks like CMC gets a lot out of his kids too.

I can't decide if Campbell saying "...not just staying centralized to where we are..." is a subtle jab back at Herman or not.

I definitely think this was a jab at Texas, after all they (longhorns) came out guns blazing attacking us for how we do things in Ames. Coach MC is a threat to others in the big 12 and Tommy doesn't like it, because losing to ISU threatens his job stability in Austin and his nice paycheck/reputation. He knows he would have lost if Kyle or Zeb started last season against the Texas Uni Longhorns instead of Jacob Park (who was probably high that game). Tom Herman coached here he knows how hard it is to get quality players here. Who cares what he thinks, we don't have the history and funds they do. We do things our way and ultimately our goal is a big 12 championship and short of a Penn State or Baylor scandal I don't give an eff how we accomplish that.

I think it's more than just a subtle jab. More like CMC and giving Herman and Co. deuces.

The thing about CMC when dealing with these things is he on the surface takes the high road...internally he plots their destruction. These subtle comments mask his insane competitiveness.

The fact that you can’t tell means that Campbell is doing it right. Herman should take notes on being subtle. He called down the thunder and now he’s got it.

What is he even ******** about? He had a top 10 class. Did ISU even beat them on any kid head to head?

According to 247, Matt Campbell has signed a total of 4 kids from the state of Texas in his 3 seasons in Ames. (2 his first class, 0 last year, 2 this class).

The blue blood’s in every sport have an advantage here. We have just become more creative in ways to fill that recruiting gap, I like the occasional bulletin board item, but this is not one for the fan base at all maybe the coaches but not anything else, media blows this up more than it needs to be again.....

I don't think it as personally against ISU. Didn't he just look for who offered the most kids. I mean if it was KState, he would have said Kstate. He was just trying to sell his style. Nothing wrong with it.

You don't use another team in your conference without intent.... he absolutely was singling out Iowa State.

I really wish our staff would just go back to doing it the right way and fill our classes out with 2 stars that North Texas didn't even want...

Saw this on twitter and wasn't bothered by his comments. I think he wouldve said it about whichever school gave out the most offers. Felt to me like he was talking to future texas targets for 2019, 2020, and beyond so he has an excuse to slow play offers. I don't remember us getting into many recruiting battles with texas this cycle and doubt we will in the near future. He beat us in JTS and signed a top 3 class this year so the "scared" argument seems overblown. Feels like a lot of people getting fake mad over nothing. Everybody knows ISU needs a different strategy than UT.

His comments come off like he's scared of Those Guys In Ames. Whether or not that is true it doesn't really matter but that's how it looks
