I think Herman was just trying to impress some recruit, or recruits, that when he offered a prospect a Texas scolly, "by god" he really wanted him and had to drag us into it with some negative example bs. Had he been responsible for recruiting even one or two Big XII caliber players to Ames when he camped here I'd admire him more, but I don't believe he did. All he brought to Iowa State was Yancy McKnight. Do you remember what Campbell said about the strength condition of our players when he came here and the multitude of injuries to our O line in the seasons before him?
