Pumping the brakes on the Tournament

Pumping the brakes? Hell, nobody said there was a sure-fire chance we'd get an invite. All I'm saying is that we probably have a good chance of getting a 9/10 seed in the big dance. We've been spoiled the past 5 seasons getting good high seeds. I think we will do better than anticipated during conference play.

I still think that this is an NIT team, but they've put themselves in position to make the Dance if they win some games. Hilton will win them a few and there will be a few games when Jackson is on fire. But, it is going to be tough to win road games in the conference. There are no easy outs. There isn't a single game that I feel like ISU can't win, but also none that they can't lose. I'm hoping for 9-9, but 6-12 wouldn't surprise me either.

KU is slightly down, but you KNOW they'll turn it around and win it.

Is there a site rule against someone posting their own story/stories they are associated with for click bait? Legit question.

There doesn’t seem to be a precedent for preventing the posting of links to articles, nor do I think there should be.

If CF is to serve as an ISU athletics social web forum, then the inability to share articles and ideas would really decrease its strength. I would also expect that TGS and its contributors are “friends” of CF just like other content providers.

Tough crowd today on what I thought was a pretty level-headed article.

Also why I didn't click it. Doesn't really matter to me if you're "friends" of CF, or if you donate to CF, pimping your two-bit blog articles here is amateur hour.

Especially since they have a "marketing director."

Which is precisely why I didn't click on his ******** link or twitter follow the other sad sack trolling for followers.

As far as the play-in game not being in the tournament I agree wholeheartedly. However, if ISU does get to the play-in game I like their chances considering the improvement they have already shown and the gauntlett they will have run through the Big 12. And a win in the play-in game does mean in the tournament.

I think it is reasonable to discuss. At this point in the season we have one loss that we shouldn’t have and a couple of wins that we shouldn’t have. I base this off of preseason predictions not whether or not we should’ve won certain games based on our play at the time. 8-2 with a good chance of going 9-2 before Christmas. I mean it’s not like we have an 0-2 conference record on December 19th like TOE.

I'm still thinking this is an NIT team, but if they continue to improve, I see at least 8 wins in the conference. Add a Big 12 tournament win, and they get in the NCAA.

That said, no way in hell I'm "pumping the brakes". Why be a fan if you can't or don't talk about expectations, even if they are not realistic?

Does this team have more talent than last years team?

Weiler-Babb v Monte
Wigginton v Long
Jackson v Thomas
Beverly/Lard v Burton/Bowie
Freshman Young v Soph Young
Bench v Bench

When I look at the pieces of this years team one could make an argument that we are more talented or similar in talent to last year’s team with a bigger, better bench. The true test comes in league play but I’m optimistic.

You may be able to make the argument that the talent gap may not be as wide as what we would have thought at the beginning of the year, but last year's team had more talent especially if you don't separate the experience. This year's team definitely has more upside on the bench than most of the teams we've fielded.

So many negative people. This is very clearly a tournament team. Somewhere between 7 to 10 seed. We just dominated a solid UNI team. We are getting better every week. We will beat Kansas once this year. Mark it down. We have the right coach and a ton of talent.

Ah, the voice of reason article, about as clever and original as ******* Buzzfeed.

My favorite part of these blog posts is that the author always has a way out. If they are wrong, they can state how happy they are to be. If they are right, they get to tell everyone they told them so. Got to love those win/win situations.
