Things I care about
Getting as many eyeballs on my writers pieces as possible.
Giving a place for peoples voices that might not normally have it.

Sorry that I offended some of you all by posting a piece someone took the time to write. You didn't have to click it. Have a good Christmas. Feel free to check out our pods and pieces at thetailgatesociety.com. Or not. It's up to you.
Take it easy Ted. Pump the brakes.

Does this team have more talent than last years team?

Weiler-Babb v Monte
Wigginton v Long
Jackson v Thomas
Beverly/Lard v Burton/Bowie
Freshman Young v Soph Young
Bench v Bench

When I look at the pieces of this years team one could make an argument that we are more talented or similar in talent to last year’s team with a bigger, better bench. The true test comes in league play but I’m optimistic.

League play will tell, though you also have to take into account the extensive experience playing in big games last year's seniors had. Then again, Jackson and Young are improved and Wigginton has experience winning on a big international stage.

I'm disappointed. I was going to congratulate the author on the following things that many people seem to get wrong:

1. Pump brakes rather than pump breaks,
2. Tournament berth rather than tournament birth and
3. Play-in game not in the tournament rather than play-in game in the tournament.

I didn't read past the title. Anyone that can't distinguish these words and is older than 7 isn't worthy of my time.

Ah, the voice of reason article, about as clever and original as ******* Buzzfeed.

My favorite part of these blog posts is that the author always has a way out. If they are wrong, they can state how happy they are to be. If they are right, they get to tell everyone they told them so. Got to love those win/win situations.

Bro your handle is Cyphyllis let's not throw stones in glass houses on originality lol

Didn't realize there were so many other user names that both reference STDs and Great Depression era female names. I'll try to do better on the originality front next time I spend upwards of 10 seconds coming up with a different misspelled user name.

Is that why you always bring up your twitter followers when you have a stupid drunken ***** fest?

Come on, if he cared about how many followers he had then he would probably frequently retweet how many people followed and unfollowed him. Wait a second...

I like when he lobbies for himself to be included on top Twitter follow lists. I've tried following him a couple of times, but it usually ends quickly. Cringeworthy stuff. Iowa and Iowa State Twitter is a pathetic representation of both fanbases. But I guess probably accurate.

Bump, to prevent this thread from further derailing...
1. B12 will be a bloodbath this year. No average teams + no great teams = whoever wins the conference title will probably have 6 losses

2. The question on NCAA selection Sunday will be: How much will B12 teams be penalized for having so many conference losses while playing a round robin schedule in the most difficult and least variable conference? I think this year B12 could get 7 teams or maybe even 8 teams to qualify.

The one thing that needs be certain is that B12 conference losses cannot be compared equally to any other conference: the B12 is the only conference that does not play an unbalanced schedule with so little parity while stillcontaining so many high quality teams.

The B12 currently has a 14-13 record against the KenPom Top 60 which is easily the best such record among all conferences. I could see B12 record against the SEC playing a big factor in the perception of B12 strength once the NCAA tourney field is decided.

3. Lastly, on ISU: Is this the "8-2 team" or the "8-0 team" (after moving NWB to PG and getting Brase and Lard on the floor)?

@moldy78 used KenPom projected records as an argument to tame optimism. I also tend to be in a wait-and-see approach just because I think B12 conference play will be wild. But for sheer entertainment this might something worth thinking about if you subscribe to this ISU team being very different than the one that played the first 2 games: View attachment 52507

If KU adds Preston and De Sousa in the next couple weeks, they won’t have 6 conference losses imo.
