I'm so sick of this anthem topic and everything that comes with it. Kirk Ferentz I thought had a good answer to a question on it. Typically he is wishy washy with his answers and won't take a side but I think he nailed it with this response. I've been pretty critical of how he is bland and won't take a stance on an issue but he did not hesitate with this one. We as fans care about the game of football so let's leave the politics and such out of the game and find other ways to make a difference to promote your cause.

The only thing I want this team to be united about is playing their best and winning games. I could care less what they think about anything off the football field whether it be their favorite food, music, or political views. As long as they are focused and putting their best effort forward on the field they can devote their time to whatever they want off the field as I am not committing my time and money to that like I am attending a game.

I'm so sick of the negativity and picking sides lately. Instead of an us vs them mentality and being angry about everything what ever happened to respecting your fellow human being's rights to have an opinion and not be so offended when they don't agree with you? As a fan I am going to support and cheer like hell for Lazzard Thursday night because when he is at his best Iowa State has a good chance to win. I just hope his mindset is on the game and not the drama that his social media post created. I approach most things in life with a positive attitude as I like to find the good and not the bad in things and it sickens me how we as a society seem to focus too much on pointing out negativity than we do trying to make a positive impact.

Systematic racism is not a widespread thing in this country anymore. There is no one group in this country that is collectively being oppressed at the moment. But go ahead and spout off the handle and cry "racist" when someone doesn't agree with you. Its what your lot are so good at.

I haven’t gotten through all of this thread yet, but this is definitely a contender for “winner” of the thread.

What the flag and anthem means to eac

they've shown that marijuana use is essentially equal in black and whites but blacks get arrested for it at much higher rates. It is a sick myth that blacks are more criminal. And the all cause mortality takes in a lot more than crime. There are numerous studies out that if a black and a white get charged for the EXACT same crime the black person is much more likely to do time for it.

People are protesting because they are being fed an agenda. Let's be honest, do any of these protests happen if Michael Brown doesn't get shot and a false narrative comes out about how he died? I mean, its possible, but if you think that the media has not fueled the flames for everything that is going on right now you are living in a fantasy world.

Most everything that is in the media right now has some truth to it, but if we just take a step back and realize not everything is as bad or as good as it sounds, not everything needs a "hot take", and we certainly need our leader to quit acting like an attention seeking child, but we are all Americans and both sides need to take a step back and chill the f out.

Nobody puts baby in the corner. A new contender

So were the people who are hispanic or black or any other race other than white that voted for Trump stupid in your opinion or what? White people weren't the only ones who voted for the guy.

Doubling down, it’s a bold strategy. Let’s see where this goes.

What I find the most sad about this is that the haters and supposedly-non-partisan "keep politics out of sports!" crowd is much, much more offended by this than the actual players are. Literally nothing has changed in football, NFL or college, except for a few players kneeling for 45 seconds instead of standing in that time.

The football game is exactly the f***ing same as before.

I have no issue if they want to protest during the game. I have a problem with protesting during the National Anthem.

It sucks this crap is the biggest topic in sports. WHO CARES!!!! I just wanna watch football and not have to hear about this stuff. People should just ignore Trump. We all know he is a moron.

Jury says, 30-40% disagrees or doesn't care. That's a big enough deal with the way our Legislative Branch is set up.

Ya because these overpaid crybaby athletes have a voice and can share what they want but Trump can't because it doesn't fit your liberal agenda?? Got it.....SMH

I agree with Ferentz on this. Take up your cause but do it outside of football.

I don't. I'm there to watch football, not analyze the correctness of the Anthem participants. I don't care if we even play it at sporting events; college players aren't on the field at all when we do now, and NFL wasn't on the field for it prior to 2009.

The crowd that banters on so much about 'muh snowflakes muh political correctness' continues to make an anthill into Mount Everest about this. They are crying more than the actual protestors. And it all comes back to "that's the wrong way to protest", which has been said about every form of social movement since this country's inception. There is no right way to protest, that's why it's a protest. There is no magical formula to make a bunch of uncaring and unaffected people join your cause.

I don't care if you disagree with what our president has said, but I cannot stand disrespecting the flag and everyone who has fought for it. Find a different way to protest other than disrespecting our country.

Make you let everyone who doesn't stand, on their phones, hats on in the stands know or whenever they had a field size flag on the field if you're so concerned about disrespecting the flag and anthem.
