I am looking for a new business opportunity and wanted to know if CF had franchise recommendations. I am in the DC area if there competition concerns.

Any specific market you want to go into? Food, fitness, etc.?

If I were to be starting one:
Wing Stop
Culver's (especially outside the midwest)
Little Caesar's (only if in low-income area)
Jersey Mike's

would all be on my final list of choices

I assume the available funds you have to invest aren't unlimited? It takes a lot more capital to start a sit down restaurant vs a Liberty Tax (for example). A LOT more.

Your availability of capital to invest may rule out many options (most franchise websites list net worth, liquidity requirements, etc.)

OK Mr Deep Pockets! :)

Minimum investment to start a Culvers:

$1,845,000

I can't attest to the accuracy of the source, but this is a list of franchise opportunities with min investment...

I think Subway has a low franchise requirement, I think around 100k.

I"m guessing the difficulty there is that Subway is pretty saturated and if there are openings, I bet current franchisees probably have first rights to territories.

Also according the list I posted, Firehouse Subs and Planet Sub are closer to $200k investment, so have to assume Subway is at least as much.

But seriously, I would think that a barcade would be cool to open, or something like Richochet in Des Moines.

I don't know what kind of person you are, but if you find a spot in a wealthy part of DC, I think The Exercise Coach could be a decent fit. From the link that capitalcityguy posted, it is $95,000 to start. They advertised on this website for a bit, and I did the free trial. If I was older and had extra money I would be interested in it.

Personally I'd go for a Quizno's but that's just so I could eat there for free all the time. Yum.

Quizno's is the bomb! I am really sad they are failing so hard all over the place, what gives. All of them in Omaha closed when I lived there, and I see only one is surviving in all of KC.

edit yikes: Had 5000 locations 10 years ago, now only 900.
